“Fairy-Tale Beautiful Location”

We were only going to be in Prague for a 2.5 days (2 nights) and we wanted to stay right in the Old Town Square / Staroměstské náměstí. The Ventana Hotel is right next to the Tyn Church / Týnský chrám on the square, walking distance from all the historic sites.

Our hotel rooms were large. I was expecting smaller rooms typical of many European hotels. Luxurious; nicer than expected! Big bathrooms. The hotel staff was friendly and eager to please. The included breakfast was good; we were seated with a nice view of the Tyn Church. In the late afternoon, the hotel had a tea service; very pleasant. The rooms have good high speed internet, but Wifi wasn't so good in one of our rooms; the lobby was best for Wifi.

In our brief stay, we saw the following: Palác Kinských / Kinský Palace, Pražský orloj / Prague Astronomical Clock, Dům U Kamenného zvonu / The Stone Bell House, Celetná ulice / Celetna street, Old Jewish Cemetery / Starý židovský hřbitov, Spanish Synagogue / Španělská synagoga, Municipal House / Obecní dům, Prague Castle, Pražský hrad, Katedrála sv. Víta / St. Vitus Cathedral, Lesser Town / Malá Strana, Kostel svatého Mikuláše / St Nicholas Church, and Karlův most / Charles Bridge. If you visit, you'll discover these sites on your own and if you are like me you want to write them down -- to remember your trip.

We ate the nearby restaurants; we really like Czech food and the restaurant were welcoming! Our hotel is formally on Celetná ulice / Celetna street. This is a big shopping area with lots of touristy and high end stores. The first floor of the hotel is Swarovski Crystal; the premium crystal store in Czech, Moser, was next door. This is a great place for food and shopping, as we tourists are known to do!

Both the Old Town Square and the Prague Castle, when lit at night looked like a scene from a imaginary fairy tale -- just beautiful.

Room Tip: Get the hotel to help with taxis. In Prague, they are not metered. You need to negotiate your taxi...

“Magical”

We stayed at the Ventana for 2 nights a few days before Christmas 2010 and it was everything I hoped it would be. It's well located off the main square and the main Christmas markets and room we paid for (the attic loft deluxe) was probably the best hotel room I've ever stayed in. The included breakfast was good enough and the mini bar in the room not overly priced. The overall decor and feel of the hotel was great and it served as an excellent base to explore Prague at Christmas time.

It must also be said the Ventana was the perfect accompanyment to our trip away as my then girlfriend, now fiance, was suitably impressed enough by the experience that she agreed to marry me when I proposed to her by the Charles Bridge on the second night! Thanks also to the small group of people who clapped and cheered when they saw me on bended knee.

Room Tip: The loft rooms are excellent and ours provided us with a view of some of Prague's spired buildin...

“Great Hotel - Great Location -Bravo Ventana”

We stayed between Xmas and New Year 2011 for 3 nights in this wonderful hotel. The location is absolutely brilliant being only 300 yards from the Old Town Square.

We were lucky to get a 'free' room up grade to one of the superb loft conversion - two level room with the four poster beds -Nice ! .

All the staff were very helpful.

The breakfasts were excellent with a wide selection of hot and cold offerings. The added complimentary cold sparkling wine (Champagne) was a bonus morning enlivener !

Generally eating and drinking out was very cheap compared to many Euro Zone countries !

We had a fantastic meal out with a huge Czech meat feast with dumplings and several Czech beers for about £13.50 each... wonderful !!

Overall a great find and a great stay...highly recommended !!

Room Tip: Room 48 is great

“This is a FINE Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Our stay in Prague was a brief one. We were passing through the city, flying in from the States via London, to spend the holidays with friends in Dresden. While we were in Prague we wanted to visit the Christmas markets, and as my wife has a limited walking range we opted for a hotel that was within a very short distance from the main town square. We selected the Ventana Hotel based on the recommendations from other Trip Advisor reviewers and were VERY pleased with the quality of the hotel and the service we recieved. We requested a shuttle pickup from the airport (highly recommended and worth the expense) and the driver was waiting for us even though our plane got in at 10:30pm. The driver was helpful, curteous and spoke excellent English. On the trip to the hotel he pointed out numerous sights along the way. The room we were given was on the 4th floor and has got to be one of the largest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in with lovely vaulted ceilings, exposed wooden beams, a spacious and comfortable sitting area and a bedroom loft and adjoining bathroom. The quality overall was excellent (I LOVED the bathroom fixtures), and everything was clean and spotless. The bed linens after a long flight were an absolute delight. Pure comfort. There was both a flatscreen TV set downstairs in the sitting area and one upstairs next to the bed and there was plenty of room to spread out the luggage and put clothes away. The only negative things I can say about the room are 1) to get to the bedroom loft you have to walk up a narrow stairway carrying your luggage, and the loft area is built around the existing beam structure of the building, so there are some awkward bottlenecks getting around the bed. 2) the room windows were a little small BUT the views they framed were like miniature picture-postcards of the city framing church towers and the city square. They were also remotely controlled from a wireless remote, so you could open and close them as you wished. We left them open and when we woke up the next morning it was raining and they were closed. They must have built-in sensors... I recommend the breakfasts in the hotel. The food is high quality and abundant with fresh linens and fine china. Service is excellent. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but there are numerous places to eat within a short walking distance. Hotel parking is limited, so I recommend using taxis whenever possible. Central stairway has a wonderful elevator for carrying heavy bags. Front desk service was excellent with good recommendations, useful information and check-in and check-out were flawless. Would I come back and stay here again if I visited Prague? Oh yeah! I definitely would.

Room Tip: Room 46 had nice intimate views of the city market and church towers. This corner room was quiet and...

“Great central location, quiet, luxurious hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We actually walked past the hotel initially as we hadn't realised quite how close to the central square it was. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful when we checked in, making sure we knew how to close the blind on our skylights etc. The loft rooms are beautifully done, lovely neutral colour scheme with views over the Tyn church spires in various directions and the bed was incredibly comfortable (having a four poster bed, albeit a modern one) was a real treat, and definitely along with the peacefulness, contributed to a great nights sleep for all three of our nights spent there. The reception staff were also v helpful pointing out places we might want to visit on a map for us as we arrived.
Breakfast was lovely, served in a very swish feeling library serving a full range of continental fare (and champagne) in a buffet.
The hotel really does have a great location for walking everywhere - it's an easy 5 minute walk from Starometska metro station, and is definitely somewhere we'd go back to (as is the city of Prague)

Room Tip: The attic rooms (two storey) are fab and means you have your own lounge area - especially useful if...
