“Amazing stay, amazing hotel, amazing staff!”

It was our first trip to Prague and from the minute we checked into the Iron Gate we receievd nothing but exceptional service, friendly faces, and a beautiful suite. I originally had booked the basic room and the wonderful staff upgraded us to a royal suite, after showing me 3 of the suites so I could choose which one we wanted stay in. Absolutely stunning building, every room in the hotel is different. Our room was huge, it felt more like an apartment. Great, udated bathrooms with large showers and jacozzi tubs. We were also greeted with a bottle of complimentary champagne. The staff is absolutely WONDERFUL and everyone spoke perfect English and they arranged all our activities and taxis, provided us with great sights to see, where to eat, and answered any questions we had. Amazing location right in the middle of Old Town Square, you can walk to everyhting. I can not say enough good things about this hotel. 110% recommend if traveling to the wonderful city of Prague!!!!

Room Tip: Every room is different and all have their own unique charm!

“Quiet rooms but close to the action: There is no equal.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

The Iron Gate Hotel is a 14th Century 4 story building which surrounds a huge courtyard which contains several tables for outdoor dining. All the rooms are unique. The general architectural design resembles that of a medieval monastery. It is located on the quiet Mikalska Street which contains several fine bistros and is only a few minutes walk from the Old Town Square.

On January 2, 2012 my wife and I stayed in a junior suite on the third floor. It cost about $450 per night in U.S. dollars. It was an excellent choice, and we will return.

The place exuded medieval. The ceiling was constructed of ancient wooden beams. As you enter, the first room was a kitchen. The second room, quite large, is bisected in the center by two large armoirs. In front of the armoirs is a "living room" comprised of a pullout couch, stuffed chair, loveseat, and stand with TV. Behind the armoirs is the "bed room" consisting of a kings size bed. Both room have a few windows which open up allowing a view of the courtyard below. While throngs of college students create a riotous cacophony mere few block away, within the Iron Gate Hotel, the peace and quite transfer you back to an earlier century.

Please note that in December 2011 we stayed at the famous Savic Hotel, however all their windows face the street , and it was very noisy at night and early morning.

Room Tip: I would avoid the fourth floor. These room have low, sloping ceilings.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed in one of the suites. We got a good deal having found the hotel on Trip Advisor. The room was lovely. It was an extremely relaxing place to stay. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good and there was enough to choose from. The location is fantastic. We very much enjoyed our stay.

“Fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

I took my boyfriend to Prague for a birthday treat and stayed at this hotel. It was on offer when I booked it and we had a junior suite for half price. The hotel was amazing, and would have been well worth the full price - I felt we got a real bargain! The hotel staff are exceptional. I emailed them before we went to enquire about early check-in, restaurants, etc... They organised a transfer to and from the airport for me, and booked us a table with a window seat at a lovely restaurant right next to Charles Bridge. The hotel itself seems small from the outside, but is actually quite big. A lovely old building full of character, and fantastically positioned - we walked to all the tourist destinations. We were too early to check in so we left our bags in their secure storage and went out to explore Prague. When we returned we were shown to our room. It was amazing! We had a lovely kitchen area, 2 bathrooms, a sleeping area and a living area. It was perfect. My only regret is that we didn't have more time to spend in it as we spent so much time enjoying the sights of Prague. Breakfast at the hotel was simple, but very good. The cocktail bar at the hotel was a bit of an undiscovered gem. Situated in the cellar, it served absolutely superb cocktails, though my boyfriend and I were the only 2 people in there during both our visits! If I had one criticism of the hotel I would urge them to publicise their cocktail bar more! It really was very good. We didn't eat at the hotel as we had already chosen restaurants to eat in, but we were given a buy one get one free voucher for the hotel restuarant when we checked in. The menu looked good, and judging by the standard of everything else in the hotel, I have no reason to doubt the quality. Based on our experience of this hotel, I would thoroughly recommend it. We hope to return at some point!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have more privacy as the stairs go past some of the bedroom windows for the lower ro...
