Well let me see, after a long overnight flight from Canada to Prague we looked forward to getting settled into our Hotel.
Upon arriving at our destination via taxi from the airport I was already wondering just what had we gotten ourselves into. There was garfitti everywhere. The lobby of the hotel looked O.K. There was no one to assist us with our luggage so we dragged our luggage up the steps to where the general direction of the elevators were The elevator's interior design left a lot to be desired as the whole inside of the cabin was covered in graffiti.
Anyway, we reached our destination on the tenth floor. Upon leaving the elevator we noticed a sign on the door that the stairway was out of order. This didn't make us feel too secure as how do we get out if there's a fire, Jump out the window?
Our door to our room opened up to a entrance hall way and the door to the first bedroom was just opposite. The bedroom was sparsly furnished, there was no TV, radio etc. We did have the apartment bulding across from the hotel where you could see people in their suite s and they of course could see you.The only picture on the wall was that of a map. There was however, a closet for the toilet and a small shower room plus one extra room with a balcony. In the extra room there was a small cot. That was it. We had one drinking glass for the whole week that we were there. They never gave us another one, the shower soap left you smelling like pine sol, the toilet paper though grey in color was a little rough compared to the toilet tissue back home.
By this time I was ready to leave but we were tired and decided to give it a chance. The dining room was closed when we tried to go for our dinner likewise the lounge on the main floor, so we walked over to the Opatov and had dinner there. The food I must say was very good. We did have our morning breakfast at the Opatov Twin and the buffet style breakfast was very nice. The breakfast room was bright & clean .
After a day or two at this particular hotel we discovered that it really catered more to the school kids than to ordinary tourists or so it looked to us.
Getting to the heart of the city was really no problem the Metro was just a short walk away. and there were bus stops quite close as well.
There was a neat little shop about one short block away with really nice clothes etc. for sale at very reasonable prices.
I did purchase a lovely sweater for a mere $12.00 Canadian.
All in all we loved Prague it's history, its beer and food.
Would we return to Prague- Yes. Would we stay at the Opatov Twin- NO, Would we recommend this hotel to our friends- Not if we want to keep them as friends we wouldn't
