We stayed in City Crown Hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is located in Praha 3 (Žižkov) and the inner part of the old town can be reached by foot in 20-30 minutes while it takes approximately 10 minutes by tram. The nearest tram stop (Husinecká) is a 3-5 minute walk and the nearest metrostation (Jiřího z Poděbrad) 7-10 minutes depending on your walking speed. The area around does not look really attractive or busy but there are actually some great restaurants (check out TripAdvisor dining options for this area of Prague)!
Staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful. The hotel looks clean and very cozy (only 17 rooms). The dining room is rather small (only 5-6 tables) but in case of good weather there is plenty of space in the backyard to enjoy your breakfast which is included in the price and of good variety. Our room itself was neat and clean and quite spacious. I personally did not like the soft mattress and together with some noise at the street and lack of AC or fan, the sleep quality was not optimal. My girlfriend, however, had no trouble getting a good sleep so maybe it is just me. The bathroom was pretty spacious aswell but the showerhead was hard to set in order to get some decent water. I think we maybe should have asked the staff to let it be repaired. Further on, there was a basket with some chips, chocolate and water which was (according to the Russian sign, thank god for google translate) a welcome gift. A very nice gesture! The free WiFi was accessible throughout the hotel and our room and was pretty fast!
Considering the interesting room rate and the including breakfast, this hotel is a great budget option. Try to book a room facing the backyard to avoid some noise from the street and be prepared for some warm nights during the summer period.
