“Very good hotel with very helpful staff”

I was given a 3 night trip to Prague as a Christmas present from my girlfriend and I cannot rate the experience highly enough. Riding in a taxi to the hotel I did have trepidations, given the building work that was going on nearby. However, on entering the hotel we were given a very warm welcome which totally made up for its current surroundings. The staff could not do enough for us and gave a complete overview of Prague in terms of where to eat, visit and how to get there. In order to get to the City Centre, we took the walk through the local park and were treated to the most amazing view of Prague from across the river. We did this each morning and night and felt completely at ease. There were plenty of families and dog walkers, so it felt natural to walk through the park. It is true that you have to walk through some local streets, but we were sensible as we would be in any city.
The hotel room was large and cleaned immaculately everyday - we never noticed any cleaning staff during our stay but the room was spotless whenever we returned to it. Breakfast had a large range of produce, from meats to pastries to eggs and cereals, all of which were presented and cooked wonderfully. During one night, we fancied a late snack so I went to reception to order food for room service. I was told that this was unavailable, but the staff member offered to go to the local shop to get us something; this hotel's staff take its visitor's comfort very seriously! The shower was fabulous. As for the construction going on, we never heard anything. Staying in this hotel was a pleasure, mainly for the friendliness of the staff and for that magnificient view of Prague from the metronome monument.

“Lovely quiet hotel with friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

The room was big and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was also very good and the room was cleaned every day and was spotless. There was no kettle in the room but this was provided when asked for. We had our own tea/coffee and could keep milk in the fridge. TV is much better than usual hotel ones although we only used it to watch dvds from the laptop via a hdmi cable. Wifi signal was excellent.

Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was a buffet and plentiful. Although the hotel was across the river from the old town it was nice and quiet and only 5 mins from a tram.

Room Tip: There is a good view from the front of the hotel, overlooking the embassies.

“Nice hotel but average area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

My boyfriend and I spent 3 nights here and were quite happy with our stay. The hotel is quite nice with good security, a decent breakfast included and clean rooms. For the most part the staff were helpful.
The main problem with this establishment is the location. It's in a rather dodgy suburb and the immediate area isn't very nice. The buildings are run-down and even the main strip of shops nearby is dead at night. A lot of the restaurants are either boarded-up or empty. It's also right next to a football stadium and one night when a game was on there were police absolutely everywhere. We got the impression it was a bit of a rough area and were a bit worried about returning home late at night.
From the hotel it is about a 25-30 minute walk to Charles Bridge, which will take you across the river and into the center of Prague. Alternatively there is a tram stop 5 minutes away from the hotel that also takes you to the city center pretty quickly.
If we ever return to Prague, we wouldn't stay here mainly because we didn't like the location.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the hotel's courtyard (because the street is really ugly).

“Great wee hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

We booked this hotel early and got a really good deal on it and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It's easy to get to - getting off the tram at stop Sparta, it's a few minutes walk round the corner. The neighbourhood is quiet. There was actually construction work going on right outside our window and you couldn't hear a thing! Also one night there […] was a game on at AC Sparta across the road and likewise, couldn't hear a thing. The staff are very helpful and even loaned us a travel plug since we forgot one. The breakfast is plentiful, continental and cooked to choose from. Also there are a great couple of bars and places to eat round about. I would recommend helles belles just 2 streets over for 25Kc beers (90p) and Fraktal, also just a few streets over and a known ex-pat watering hole, for enormous portions of good food for £4-£5. When we go back to Prague we will definitely choose Art Hotel again.

Room Tip: Our room was just off reception and had an excellent wi-fi signal.

“Great breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

Art Hotel Prague offers a free breakfast in it's room rate which is excellent value for money! If you can get up early for it, do so and you won't be hungry for a while :)

The location of the hotel is a little out of the way and our directions were slightly confusing given that there are two Sparta stops currently (one makes you walk 200m with heavy packs, the second only 10m to the corner) however we were able to work this out pretty quickly.

Check-in was simple and easy, no hassles. Room was huge - i could lie on the bed, stretch my arms and still not reach my partner! Very clean also. There was a game in the nearby stadium whilst we were there but we heard hardly any noise despite being on the ground floor.

Downsides - in the room we had, the shower head was not affixed high on the wall, rather near the bath faucet. This meant you had to hand hold the shower head to take a shower in the bath, with no shower curtain preventing the water from going everywhere - little awkward! The location is a little out of the way as mentioned, and at night it can be a little dark walking back to the hotel - we never felt unsafe but did walk quickly back from the tram stop!

Overall, excellent value for money especially with that breakfast!
