“Unreasonable expectations from other reviewers”

Prague has become an expensive city to visit and to stay in a good hotel can cost even more than in parts of Germany. It's hard to believe but it is fact.

We drove to Prague during Easter 2011.

Eurohotel is a 3-star hotel belonging to a franchise similar to IBIS or ETAP. This particular hotel is located in the suburbs of Prague and the Chodov metro station is 15 mins walking. The walk is not very pleasant as it is the main road with a lot of cars. However, there is a bus which you can take. We bought a 72-hour travel card which allowed us to travel unlimited on the metro and buses. The metro ride into the center of Prague takes 30 mins. Next to the metro station is a huge shopping centre called the Chodov shopping centre. It has free parking.

The hotel itself is a cheap hotel which means it receives a big variety of guests. When we arrived, we saw a large group of American teenagers sitting on the floors. They were part of a tour group and I would imagine that this cheap hotel gets a lot of these groups. So I am not surprised to read reports of ruined carpets, considering the type of guests that stay there. We did not experience the bad issues which people have written about, and our room was exactly what we expected for the money we paid. It was reasonably clean and roomy for our "european" standards. We got complimentary breakfast and could eat as much as we like. The breakfast room was crowded in the morning but it is a huge hotel with many many guests. I honestly do not understand why people like to complain about things which, IMHO, are fair and square. You get what you pay. If you want something better then pay for it. Like I said, Prague is an expensive city to visit.

As for the unfriendly reception... there was one lady by herself who had to handle all the guests. Imagine yourself having to do this and tell me if you can keep the smile on your face for the entire day.

There is underground car parking available but it is not free parking. There is a KFC restaurant right next to the hotel which was great for me.

“rubbish hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in .
the rooms are tiny, no air con just heat and all sealed windows, so its so stuffy it is unbearable.
no tea and coffee making facilities let alone fridge. beds are like blancmanges, bedding is tat. carpets threadbare and filthy.no main light in the room and only one chair to sit on. water in bathroom comes out cold and in a dribble. shall i go on.
all in all just a waste of money. we booked for 24 nights and there is nowhere to even unpack suitcases just 4 hangers in an alcove.
we booked another hotel for 9 nites but are now back here. we have decided to cut trip short and booked next flight home.
ps we wanted to stay for christmas and new year but will miss new year
prague is a lovely place but sad to say holiday is ruined. will read all reviews before booking hotel again

Room Tip: go elsewhere. anywhere even outer mongolia

“normal 3 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

I don't know why somebody book 3 star hotel for lowest price in Prague suburb and then expect at least 4 star hotel?!

It is long story why I booked this hotel, but due to horrible reviews I lived 2 months in fear how will my family stay there. Now, Ia ma glad I did it. I tried other solutions, like selling the arrangament, but al last I showed up last month with my family at the evening at this hotel, expecting noone there . Hall was full of german middle age loughing tourists and a little bit confused young receptionist give us card for the room.
Room was surprisingly fresh, nice, clean and with a highway view - and a second after I realised tha there is no sound at all.
And for me very important - any sign of smell of cigarettes ( there is fire alarm) or anything else
so in short
hygiene - you have t o put the card on the door and cleaning lady will clean the room - how? depends of her, some only made our bed

bathroom -only two towels, clean

breakfast - cornflakes, cakes, appleas, cheease, salami, bread, juice, tea, coffee, butter, etc - you will not enjoy it , but you won't be hungry

air condition - it is noisiy when working, but we set it on 20 degrees and went out, turn off when in the room, and it was ok

location - it near higway, for direction consult via michelin, bus station is 40m from hotel, one station to metro station, and only 20 m form bus station is enteranace to chodov shopping center - shops work till21, supermarket and restaurants till 22. it is also suitalke if you come with car - you just choose which highway you want. To city center it is about 20 minutes drive.

parking - there is underground parking, but in front of the hotele there are 3 free parking lots. nearby -20 m- is business building with offices and their parking is available in the night. this building also has self service restaurant with menu abot 130 czk, which is suitable if you come in the day and too hungry for other restaurants

This hotel obviously gets money from tourist groups which change every second day , they are older and we never had problems with noise at night.
This hotel is totaly ok for staying - save money for prague, you will need it because it is more expensive than in the past.
Hotel looks like hotel for just sleepover - only 2 towels for 2 persons, lazy maids, small glass for juice in the breakfast, cheap furniture ( bed was ok), etc, but it is new building and clean hotel on good location

We were booked here as part of our 15 day tour of Europe. Of the 7 hotels we stayed in this was the worst. The rooms were tiny, nearly as small as the single towel provided! One measly towel, thread bare, the size of a hand towel... they advertise access to the pool and spa next door, but it was always closed. the food was barely passable. The thermostat in the room was just for show...and window could not be opened. the place smelled a a recent bug bombing and smoke.

Too many inconveniences:
1. Non-friendly personell
2. Non-opening windows
3. No hairdryer
4. Poor breakfast. Especially early breakfast - two sandwiches and they ask a pledge of five Euro the day before (never seen such a strange thing)
