I initially booked this hotel based on the description and photos on the hotel website. Then I read the reviews on trip advisor and I was worried that i had wasted my money staying here... But...as soon as I arrived I knew that I wouldn't regret it.
The lobby gives a great first impression and Tomas, who checked us in made us feel welcomed and provided us with city information and answered any questions we had. As did the concierge who recommended a tour which we had lots of fun on.
I had reserved 2 standard double rooms. 1 ended up being in the old part of the hotel and 1 in the newer. I am not sure how the sizes and layouts vary but I much prefered our room in the newer section as it was larger and in my opinion, nicer. Although the room in the original building was grand with high ceilings, it was very cramped and too small for 2 people.
The location is very good also. Ok, it's not the best location in Prague but It is only a couple minutes walk from the main train station and within easy walking distance to republic square and other touristy areas.
A couple of negatives were there was no free wifi and we had our bags stored by the hotel for the day only to realize that they don't have a secure baggage storing area and our bags were left in the open (with many other bags of other guests) near the front door.
I had a great time in Prague and this hotel made my time there excellent. Obviously not everyone thinks so highly of this hotel as it would be rated better than 178 on trip advisor. I only wish others will have the experience we had and the service we got.
