This was my first time to Prague and a return for my partner. I booked this hotel through a special offer, and hoped that I was making the right choice having never been to Prague before, and I am delighted to say I definitely made the right choice!!
When we got there we were immediately made welcome and were offered friendly, helpful advice on places nearby to eat. It was blisteringly cold outside, but the hotel was snug and warm, as indeed was our room. The beds were very comfortable, bedlinen crisp and fresh, and the en-suite bathroom was well kitted out.
The hotel was renovated in 2004 and there is a fascinating pictorial history of the building near the restaurant area. It was built in the Art Nouveau style and the stairs and escalator well are truly beautiful, with the renovation respecting the historical design, whilst marrying it with contemporary and up to date facilities.
After a very good nights sleep, we went down for breakfast around 9.30, and what an excellent spread was available for us: plenty of local cheeses, hams, salamis, breads, lots of cereals, yogurts, fresh fruit and fruit juices, and also a cooked breakfast selection to boot. It was self-service, with tea and coffee being brought to your table. Such an ample breakfast meant that we never needed to eat lunch!
I had arranged via email for us to be collected and returned to the airport, which turned out to be a good decision as our flight in was delayed until quite late and I wouldn't have wanted to face the journey in by bus or tram, not knowing where we were going, and the added bonus was our driver Yurga (I think that's how it's said - he said in English that would be George, so I apologise to any Czech speaker reading this if I have it wrong) who was so kind and welcoming and gave us a commentary as we drove in about some of the landmarks that we were seeing. We asked the hotel to arrange for him to be our driver back to the airport too, and if you get the chance ask for him too!
I terms of location the hotel was excellent, being only a short walk away from Municipal House and the Powder tower, with the Old Town Square only a few minutes away. Having this hotel asa our base we walked everywhere, never needing to use public transport or taxis, other than for the journeys to and from the airport. So if you are in Prague for a short visit like we were K+K Hotel is not just a great hotel, but also the perfect location from which to explore the city.
A 2 night stay was just not long enough, and we hope to go back soon, and to answer the question "Would you stay at the K+K Hotel Central again?" the answer would be an emphatic and immediate yes!
