This hotel is located just minutes from the Old Town Square, close to several of the outdoor christmas markets. Breakfast each morning was diverse and plentiful. We found it to be a great way to start the day and ended up saving money on food by having a large meal in the morning. The hotel was quiet and clean and the staff was very friendly. Free wifi is available if you have an internet source, but it costs money to use the computer in the lobby. We thought it was a great deal for the location and quality of service. We did find the entrance to be dark and a bit unwelcoming, but once you enter the hotel it is very nice. You have to buzz into a building and then walk down a hallway to reach the hotel entrance. The light in the hallway does not always turn on. Overall we thought it was a great choice!

Everything about this hotel is average except from 2 things - location - which is just perfect, right in the center of Prague just a few meters away from Staromestske namesti and Vaclavske namesti. Therefore you are close to everything interesting about Prague. Second exceptional thing is the old male receptionist who was so friendly and willing to help, he treated us like an old friend and reminded us of the old times when people just cared for each other in a different way than nowadays. The hotel itself is in an old building, furnished with an older furniture but it is clean and have a nice atmosphere. Breakfast is a bit strange because is served right in the reception space. I would recommend to people who want to stay in the heart of Prague for a good price.

Hotel is a couple of minutes' walk from the Old Town Square so a great location, 100 metres from a metro station and 5 minutes' walk from a taxi rank. It was good value as we booked a god few weeks in advance (60 euros a night) but full price would have ben too dear at 180 ish euros which I am sure nobody ever pays. The bathroom had a shower and no bath but that was fine for us. Room was a bit dated but again that's what we wanted rather thsan a slick 5 star place - we wanted more of a real Czech hotel. Wwould definitely recommend and stay in again. Breakfast was 7-10 and was hot and cold - not just bread and jam, and excellent coffee.

The hotel is very clean and has friendly 24hr reception. It is very dated with poor facilities (tiny bathroom with no toiletries and nowhere to hang clothes). Breakfast is not good and, unless you are down early, you get no hot food. The hotel is situated above a nightclub so, as well as the thumping base from that, you also have to run the gauntlet of smokers in the doorway and people lurking around the entrance. There is a steep flight of steps up to Reception - quite difficult when you arrive with luggage.
The beds are comforatable and there's plenty of storage space but the best reason for going to the Melantrich is the location: it is a 2 minute walk to the Old Town Square with all the restaurants, bars and sites.
