We have just returned from our trip to Prague where we stayed at Hotel Sofia. We picked this hotel due to its location and price. The hotel was easy to find and reach, with the excellent public transport in Prague. The hotel is about a 3 – 5 minute walk from the metro station Namesti Miru, which took about 5 minutes to get in to town, if you wanted to walk it would only take about 20 minutes. The hotel surroundings were quite calm and there were no distractions from traffic.

Our first impression of the hotel was not great, the entrance is quite dated and you are welcomed with a stale smell of smoke. Our room was on the top floor, with NO lift/elevator we had to climb 4 flights of stairs. With this in mind we wondered what the rooms would be like, luckily we were surprised. The room was spacious, big enough for all three of us, the beds were hard but we did not have trouble sleeping. The bathroom was clean and we were provided with clean towel that could be changes when we needed and the room was cleaned everyday. The breakfast was basic nothing to get excited but it was edible and plenty for all.

Would I stay here again? Yes

This was our second trip to Prague, and we liked this hotel much more than one we had on our first trip. Location of the hotel is very good- it is located some 500m from the Namesti Miru metro station (green line). and tram stops so moving around Prague was very easy.

Room was quite small, but when you spend practically whole day on the move, who needs a large room anyway. Hotel surroundings were quite calm and there were no distractions eg.from car traffic. We had separate bathroom and toilet, worked out fine. Those were kept clean.

Hotel staff was friendly, they helped us to find routes for ferries as those were only available in czech language. Breakfast was ok, nothing special but all the basics were available (+fruits and yoghurt).

Good value for money!

We stayed here for a few days at the end of November and were a bit surprised by the dinginess based on the reviews we read. The stale smell of smoke permeates the place and the rooms are awkward and small and the bed was uncomfortable. To get into our shower, you had to step up 1.5 feet -- I almost slipped every time getting out! Breakfast was sufficient and filling and the staff was friendly. Proximity to the metro and buses (about 2 blocks away) made accessing the entire city very easy. During the holidays, there's a small Christmas Market set up outside the church by the metro. My recommendation would be to stay elsewhere.
