“For the price it was fine!”

We stayed here in October 2011 because we got a really good deal. I read other reviewiers reviews, and was apprehensive. There was no need to be. The rooms were basic, but fine...I went to Prague to see Prague, not to watch tv in the hotel. It is certainly nowhere the center of Prague, but we drove to the Opatov park and ride every day (about 5 minutes) and then took the metro to the center (about 20 minutes). For a family of 3 this cost us about 5€ per day. The breakfast was fine, and the Ceska Chalupa restaurant was good, with VERY friendly service... A word about the hotel staff though. Many of them could use some training in basic politeness.. I always greeted them (in my VERY BASIC Czech) with a smile, but didn't usually get one in return. The worst experience I had with them was the check-out. Ilona, the desk clerk, told me all was paid, the bill was settled and to go. BUt I knew we'd charged dinner to the room twice, and didn't want to cheat them. She snarkily insisted for quite some time that the room was paid for and I should go. At one point she told me to "Sit down and stay there until I call you!" Not much of a reward for trying to be honest. In the end it was all resolved, but instead of being happy that I hadn't skipped out on my bill, she was EVEN MORE IRRITATED. Oh well. Several other desk clerks were kind, and all had excellent English (and several other languages it seemed). In all, for a cheap place to stay and see Prague, I'd reccomend this hotel. Repeat...Restaurant service great (and food for kids and vegetarians) desk service could use an overhaul.

“Basic, clean accomodation, but a long way from the centre of Prague”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2011

Recently got back from a 4 night stay at the Club Hotel Praha, there is nothing bad I can say about the hotel itself, only that it is a long way from the centre of Prague, so not an ideal base to visit Prague. The hotel room was clean and basic, certainly not 4 star by UK standards, but the bed was big and comfortable, and the bathroom clean and functional. The view from the room was over trees and tennis courts at the back of the hotel, and quite pleasant.

The hotel is a big sports complex with swimming pool, saunas, many tennis, squash and badminton courts. If the purpose of your stay is good value, clean, basic accomodation plus lots of the above sports, this place would be perfect!

We never used the restaurant at the hotel, so cannot comment on that unfortunately, but the reception area was fine, and the staff spoke enough English and were helpful when we needed help and had questions.

The hotel provides a free shuttle bus to Opatov subway station, this is then 15-20 minutes train journey to the centre of Prague. The shuttle bus only has room for 7 passengers, so advisable to tell reception asap which bus you intend to catch (including the bus back if required). There were 10 trips a days to Opatov, starting from 05:30 am (I think), but it was a shame that there was a bit of a gap between the 09:50 bus and the 13:30 bus, so you either get up relatively early, or you cannot get the shuttle until after lunch. The last bus back to the hotel from Opatov is after 23:00, although reception can be called later than that, and they will pick you up for 300 Czech. I did manage to wave down a taxi at Opatov one night, and got back to the hotel for 240 Czech. A taxi from the centre of Prague to the hotel cost us just under 400 Czech, which is about £15/16 Euro.

Overall, I cant recommend this as a base for Prague, because it is too far out, but no complaints about the hotel itself from what we saw. One final thing about the location, Pruhonice looked quite nice, with a few restaurants, and a bus into Prague, and all around the hotel are trees, so nothing unpleasant about the location at all.

“$1,000 a night - everything stolen”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 May 2009

I stayed at this hotel at the recommendation of a friend for three nights. The facilities were ok, especially the sports facilities. However, on my last day there I had a number of things stolen directly from my room - a laptop, camera, ipod, laptop bag with documents, keys, sim card, chargers, etc. The hotel offered no help even though it was clear that one of their employees was involved. There was no sign of a break in and the doors lock automatically when you leave. The hotel is outside of the city, away from busy sidewalks and pedestrians. This was clearly an inside job.

There was little activity in the hotel. We were posted in a random room away from other guests. Our room had been cleaned the day before, so inventory had been taken. The day everything was stolen, the front desk had called a taxi for us to get into the city, so they knew we were gone. It became clear after the fact, when this all came to light and they offered no help. They said these things happen. The manager never talked to us. No one offered any help. The police were of no use and I had to keep moving in order to catch a flight. They clearly had a system set up and in the end with everything lost, it costs me nearly $3,000. That's $1,000 a night.

A terrible experience. A terrible hotel. Unfortunately, these kinds of people and businesses do still exist in the world.

“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 December 2006

This was actually a business trip. I stayed for three nights at this hotel.

The hotel is in a very good spot, only about fifteen minutes from Old Town Square which is amazing. Great location in the pleasant enviroment. Good price.

I also found there a great restaurant called Czech Cottage which is situated near by the hotel. The people were friendly, food excellent, Czech specialities as well as international cuisine.

The swimming pool was great way to relax after a long day . It was very relaxing!

It was clean, comfortable, the bathroom was new. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I felt really comfortable in this hotel.

“A lil off the beaten track... Quiet Surroundings..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2006

This hotel is located next to the D1 highway (to Prague City) and quite a distance from Prague City Centre itself. It is not close to convenience stores/pubs or restaurants. In fact, I believe Club Hotel is actually more a Recreational Club with a Sports Centre (pool, bowling, tennis, squash etc) catering probably in it's heydays to the rich folks in town.

Rooms were alil dated and furniture was purely functional. Do not expect anything fancy... Comfortable and adequate for a night's rest. Television was teeny tiny and ancient.

Overall, I will give it a 3.5 rating.. For functional room and quiet surroundings despite being near the highway and all, we were never bothered by traffic… but unfortunately during our stay, the air conditioning (yes surprisingly they do have aircon!) wasn't working/or turned on and as we were on the ground floor, opening the windows would run the risk of letting insects into the room.
** If u are a nature lover, you might like this place as the hotel is surrounded by trees and greenery which is a nice contrast from city hotels. **

As for me, I feel that Prague is a lovely town and I would have liked spending more time there. I probably wouldn't return to this hotel though my stay was really quite pleasant simply because I would prefer to be much closer to the city centre itself.

As I was travelling during Summer and World Cup 2006 session, most of the hotels in the city were full... thus I was booked into this hotel.
