We stayed here in October 2011 because we got a really good deal. I read other reviewiers reviews, and was apprehensive. There was no need to be. The rooms were basic, but fine...I went to Prague to see Prague, not to watch tv in the hotel. It is certainly nowhere the center of Prague, but we drove to the Opatov park and ride every day (about 5 minutes) and then took the metro to the center (about 20 minutes). For a family of 3 this cost us about 5€ per day. The breakfast was fine, and the Ceska Chalupa restaurant was good, with VERY friendly service... A word about the hotel staff though. Many of them could use some training in basic politeness.. I always greeted them (in my VERY BASIC Czech) with a smile, but didn't usually get one in return. The worst experience I had with them was the check-out. Ilona, the desk clerk, told me all was paid, the bill was settled and to go. BUt I knew we'd charged dinner to the room twice, and didn't want to cheat them. She snarkily insisted for quite some time that the room was paid for and I should go. At one point she told me to "Sit down and stay there until I call you!" Not much of a reward for trying to be honest. In the end it was all resolved, but instead of being happy that I hadn't skipped out on my bill, she was EVEN MORE IRRITATED. Oh well. Several other desk clerks were kind, and all had excellent English (and several other languages it seemed). In all, for a cheap place to stay and see Prague, I'd reccomend this hotel. Repeat...Restaurant service great (and food for kids and vegetarians) desk service could use an overhaul.
