“No room at the inn ........”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2010

Me and a group of friends booked a trip to Prague to stay at this hotel at the end of September. We all booked through a variety of ways - some direct with the hotel, some via an online travel agent and some with Airmiles. The accomodation was all booked at the end of July and confirmed.

When we arrived at the hotel mid morning - I was in the first group as we were in two separate taxis, I was told that we wouldnt be able to stay at the hotel as there were no rooms available. I said that you have got to be joking as we had booked the accomodation in July and it had been confirmed etc. I was told by the reception staff that because we were only staying 2 nights we couldnt have a room as there were some "long term" guests staying at the hotel - not sure what they meant by that. When the second half of our group arrived - about 10 mins after us - they thought we we joking - unfortunately not. To cut a long story short we were taken to an alternative hotel in Prague 4 - the other side of the city which wasnt of a very good standard. To be fair to the Stirka - they did actually take us to the alternative hotel and they did ring our taxi transfer company up and rebook the pickup back to the airport for us - which saved us a job. If you are considering booking at this hotel - just be aware that when you turn up - you may not have room. I got the impression that our case was not an isolated incident and its the booking agencies such as late rooms etc that overbook the accomodation - the hotel doesnt seem to have a handle on the number of actual bookings made.

“Good price, but...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 October 2010

We booked over the internet, because we liked some of the photos we saw (didn't bother reading reviews - first mistake!), and the price was really good. They also replied to our emails quickly. When we got there we took a few minutes to find it after leaving the metro station (which is only 3 or 4 stops from the centre of Prague, depends on where you're going), and we were asked to pay straight away, they also accept Euro. The girl at the reception (and both receptionists that we spoke to later on) was nice and spoke good english. We went to our room, which looked okay at first. The TV had 3 working stations, and 7 non-working. The water heater still had some water left in it, who knows from when, and we couldn't open it. The curtains were dirty and they were slightly torn at the top, so only around 3/4 of the window was covered. The shower was very dirty, but everything else looked quite clean. And there were huge yellow stains on the ceiling, I'm guessing they had a leak in the room above sometime before. In one week the only change that we saw in our room was another roll of toilet paper. The towels were not changed even after we threw them on the floor. (I just read that "Housekeeping is offered", so maybe we should have ordered it?) The hotel offers free wireless internet, but we stayed in the first floor and could barely get a signal. When we did get the signal, the speed was okay.
The first morning we arrived to breakfast at 7:30am (breakfast is from 7-10) and all of the food was there, but there was no hot water to make tea. The second morning there was no coffee (the note read "Sorry, but today hot coffee it's not"), and the hot dogs were cold. The third morning there was nothing else to eat but cold sausages and jam, as everything else was gone (at 8am). The fourth morning everything was good, but we were there at 7am, who knows what it looked like an hour later. The lady that was there spoke only bad english and came out every 15-20 minutes to clean a table, so most of the time there were a few tables with dirty plates on them. Also, most of the dishes in the restaurant (plates, glasses, forks and knives) were dirty.
Anyway, for the price we paid, the hotel was alright, but nothing more. We spent all days outside and came there only to sleep. I wouldn't recommend it very much.

Nearby you can find the Kobylisy metro station (7-8 minute walk), tram station (3 minute walk) and a few grocery shops and restaurants.

“Basic!!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

You only get what you pay for. It was adequate but nothing more than functional. It is only 3 tube stops from the centre. The breakfast was okay. Needs some serious updating.

“the tragedy, the fraud”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2010

we've booked this place via net, arrived at the hotel, went in and some balkanian crappy man at the counter - Darko pinhead just called himself the manager and told us that we have to be moved to the hotel near by- 200 meters from Stirka; can you people imagine this?? you pick the place, pay the money, getting to the place and you're being sent to the other place cause the hotel you wanted is overbooked, joke? not for the crappy man, the gypsy manager I mean. so we went to this other place and spent the night there, was not so bad but listen to this: Stirka advertises it's dbl rooms as to be taken for about 110 usd and the other place gave us the invoice for ..... 25 euros. this case has been already reported by local police and we're waiting for our lawyer to set the case in the local court. this whole joke in reality is being called - the fraud. Stirka is going down rapidly and I really mean it.

“Don't go there!!!!!!!!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

I've been to this hotel in this weekend and it was terrible.... from the moment that we arrived there, the room was very dirty, the lingerie hasn't been changed from the previous customers, there were dust everywere...and the room was very little...on the mansard at 4th floor with the bathroom dirty too.
When I complain to the receptioner she send the lady to clean but...the room was still dirty, the breakfast was very poor, not sufficient juice and nothing to choose from the menu.
That is not a 3 stars hotel...at all!
