“Great Budget Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2007

Have just returned from a four day break to Prague and was very impressed by the Hotel. It had great transport link to all the tourist attractions. The number 3 tram ran at the back of the hotel and just took 20 minutes into the centre or you could get the metro which was about 250metres away. We got a 3 day pass for 220 crowns about £5.50. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast room was spotless with a reasonable choice. The room we had was small but had everything you need and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were very pleasant, The only small thing wrong was that the hotel was too hot even in February. There was agreat bar just along from the hotel called B3 where my husband got a half litre of beer for about 73p. we found if you shopped around even in the centre of town you could get really good deals on meals and drinks. All in all a very enjoyable break and can't wait to return

“Great winter break in Prague”

We stayed in this hotel for a 4 night 5 day stay and would recommend this hotel. Very clean and basic but more than adequate. Bought a 7 day ticket for the metro which allowed you to access to use metro, tram and bus. The metro station was about a five minute walk from the hotel while the tram stop was just round the corner, No 3, 20 minutes to City Centre The tram was better as you got to have views of the city and as you can get off and on as much as you want we found various little markets to get off and browse through. The centre of the city was absolutely stunning, the architecture untainted and great museums. We ventured over the other side of Charles Bridge and seen some amazing sights. Great city to walk about in and very cheap restaurants. The nighttime jazz cruise is well worth it, food was excellent. As is the daytime cruises. Like in many major cities go off into the side streets and meals are a lot cheaper . If you are intending to walk about make sure you are well wrapped up and have suitable walking footwear. We were lucky, we were there in November and had beautiful sunny crisp days. We were well warned before going about the danger of pickpockets and sure enough we were targetted by them on boarding a tram. They work in packs of four of five. These ones were all in their 30's to 40's and dressed like tourists, however we had heeded advice and carried our wallets etc inside our jackets zipped up. Advice for women do not carry handbags. We also saw younger groups working the metro and trams with their spoils of their ill gotten gains but despite this it is a lovely city and plan to go back. Plenty to do and see and eat.

“Good budget hotel”

Hotel is on the outskirts of Prague but is only a metro ride away, and provides good, basic and clean accomodation. The hotel is about a 5min walk from the nearest metro station or there are trams running all througjh the night for transport. We found the staff to be helpful. The breakfast was basic with only cereal, selection of hams, not much hot to choose from. We stayed in this hotel for 2nights and found it ideal for what we were looking for.

“Basic, clean and friendly”

Read trip advisor before we booked a short stay in Prague and generally the comments were spot on.
Our 3 day trip, including hotel (B&B) and flight was £80 pp. At this price it was worth the trip.
Travelling from the airport your best to get the mini buses outside, for 4 of us it was 480K (£12). Same price for the return trip and they were very reliable regarding pick up.
Rooms at the hotel are basic no frills, clean and staff were helpfull.
First impressions of the hotel surroundings are quite depressing however the locals are very frendly and the Bars and Restaurants are excellent value for money. Best Bar B3, 100 yards ahead of the hotel.
Best Restaurant, head towards the Metro take 2nd left and across the main road there's a pizza place.
For travel, buy a 3 day pass at the Metro tobaccanist (220K) and remember to stamp the ticket at the machines situated before the escallator.

“Our experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2006

We stayed at this hotel from the 23rd - 27th November. Although the hotel is a bit out of town, the location is fine, we had no problems using the metro and only took about 10 mins to the city centre. The benefit of being so far out is that the price of food in the area was great. We went to a lovely pizza place the first night we were there and were really suprised how cheap it was.

The hotel itself was nice and clean (though communal areas were pretty smokey) and the room was basic but fine. The temperature of the room was good and you could turn it up or down. The staff all speak perfect English. Big downside for this hotel was the beds. I have never slept in such a hard, uncomfortable bed and am still having back pain now! It was particularly annoying after having a long day of walking to not be able to go back to the hotel and have a nice comfortable bed to relax in.

We were also disturbed by a rowdy group of guys (typical brits abroad) at 4 o'clock in the morning. I don't know if this tends to be a problem with this hotel, but might be best to take ear plugs!

We organised for the Prague Airport shuttle service to pick us up at the airport. It was actually unnecessary as it is very easy to use the metro even with luggage, however, if like us you like an easy way of getting to hotel when you are landing quite late at night I would highly recommend them. The girl who picked us up gave us loads of information about what to do in Prague and was able to answer lots of questions. A nice relaxing way to get to our hotel.

Prague is a great city to explore by foot, there is plenty to see and do and lots of nice eating places (mainly Italian though). Head away from the main tourist areas to save yourself money on food and drinks.

All in all if you are looking for a relatively cheap hotel to stay at, the hotel Esprit is a good option. However, I think if we were to go back I would spend a bit more money and get somewhere with a nice big comfy bed!!
