“Budget Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

The Astra Hotel in Prague is situated outside the city center. It takes about 20-30 minutes (including walking to/from metrostation) to get from the hotel to the city. The Astra Hotel is located in a neighbourhood, so surrounded by flats and other normal houses. There is a supermarket located next to the metrostation, which was a 5-10 minutes walk.
I was visiting the hotel with a Groupon voucher so this hotel was a real bargain. The room was great, sleeping and sitting area were seperate, as was the toilet and the bathroom. That was an absolute plus. The bathroom and furniture inside the room is a bit dated and could use some fresh paint, some furniture should be replaced due to stains. But the bed was great and big and I have slept very well. There is a refrigerator in the room which is handy to store your own drinks. What is one big drawback, is the fact that you can not stand up straight in the shower. The showerhead is placed too low, and even if you get it off the standard, the water pipe was not long enough to put the showerhead above your head, and I'm not even very tall.
The breakfast is a buffet. It served different kinds of bread, eggs, fruit juices, more than enough to start your day. The breakfast room is not that big so it can be busy in the morning. Included in the voucher was one dinner. I didn't really like the taste, but on the other hand, my boyfriend did.
The staff in the reception area all spoke English and were very nice. You can also book your trips and tours there with a discount and they are happy to help you with directions or other things you have questions about.
This hotel is great for budget travellers. The rooms are quite big and the staff is friendly. All in all, an ok hotel.

“Good 3 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Purchased 3- night voucher from groupon website. The hotel is nice, room spacious, neat and clean, only bathroom is quite small and need some renovation (not a big issue indeed). The hotel is located outside the city centre but is just few minutes walk from metro station skalka (green line) and in 10 minute you are downtown.
Staff is friendly and speaks English. Breakfast is well assorted. The only
Point is that for me the standard rate is too high considering the location.

“Reasonable accommodation for a reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Our 3-night stay was on a Groupon offer which included a free bottle of sparkling wine, free use of the garage, 15% off some tours and a dinner from a restricted menu, as well as interesting room rates. We were happy with everything. The staff all spoke English and were very helpful. The room was large (room 126 has 4 windows, no less!), the bathroom was small but adequate. The lift is tiny. The restaurant was only average for dinner but the breakfasts were different each day with plenty of variety. Travelling in to Prague was easy - purchase a 3-day travel pass and you have the metro, tram and bus all nearby. Only negative comments: the photo of the outside is misleading, it's a shabby hotel in a shabby residential street with no real "frontage"; a lot of noise outside means no open windows at night; and someone was smoking in the bar/café area

“Good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

We stayed 3 nights in Praque in this hotel. It is good for sightseeing only 5 minutes walk from metro station. Rooms are refreshed bed very comfy and big. Better then in a loudly center. Breakfast was ok, plenty of choice as it is a buffet. Dinner not eatable.

“With disccounts - good value”

Nice, clean hotel in peaceful neighborhood, 5 minutes walk from metro station Skalka. Rooms are rather small (toilet and shower rather tiny) but for budget trip it's ok. Very friendly and helpful service. Restaurant is rather overall average but as a B&B it's ok. If you get some seasonal discount from their normal prices and want rather budget, nice accomodation you should be satisfied.
