“Good Value”

I have stayed at the Ametyst twice now. Once on a Stag Do and once with my wife and parents. On both occasions I found the service to be very good. The breakfast is also good. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to Wenceslas Square or 5 minutes to the metro. Just around the corner from the hotel is a lovely little bar / cafe, they sell lots of local beers (at 1/3 the price of the hotel), the food is also very good!

“Contemporary style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

The most expensive full-service hotel in an affordable part of town, the Ametyst is less expensive than hotels of similar quality in the older districts, but you can get a better deal at one of the nearby pensions. On a quiet back street about 5 blocks from námêstí Míru, it’s spotless and decorated in a warm contemporary style. The top-floor rooms are especially bright and cheery, with pitched ceilings and balconies overlooking the peaceful residential neighborhood.

“Close to the Metro”

The hotel was nice and priced well being that we were in town for the new year. breakfast was included-breads, meats cheeses and cereal. They have a computer in the lobby where internet was free. if you wanted to take advantage of the wi-fi it is available for 10 euro for your whole stay. It was a bit farther from town than i would have liked, however it was a block away from the metro (green line). the metro was extremely easy to navigate as all the attractions in Prague are along the green line. you can buy a pass that is good for 24 hours for 110 crone, much cheaper than relying on the local taxis which are likely to scam you. the hotel also has a bar downstairs and a really great restaurant right around the corner. there was a spa/sauna that we didn't use.

“Great hotel but they've not banned smoking indoors yet!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

The hotel was clean and tidy, well manned reception with lift access to floors, with hotel bar and restaurant with spa facilities (didnt use). The hotel bedrooms were well decorated and a definite plus feature was separate toilet and bathroom; all very fresh and we had no complaints other than the mattresses were far too hard and therefore uncomfortable. This is about the only down side we found, together with the smoking which quite surprised us and not a welcome one at that. The breakfast was ok, nice food but they did have a bit of a problem with supplying clean cups and cutlery. On a negative, the hotel is quite a way from the centre but as we travelled as a 4-some was easy and taxi was affordable (very easy to get ripped off in the yellow cabs cos dont seem to be regulated). We went for the x-mas market but weren't very impressed with them, but was fab for atmosphere and we did have a great time. The Black Light theatre Aspects of Alice is a must in our opinion!
