The hotel location is excellent, near Charles Bridge, shops, restaurants etc. On first entering the Hotel my thoughts were yes this is very nice, old style and very clean. We approached the reception desk to check in and noticed very quickly there was only one employee on duty. I had booked and paid for two deluxe rooms, when he gave us the keys one room was on the fourth floor and the other room on the seventh floor, not great but not really a problem, When we arrived in our room we had been given two single beds seperated by a unit, we decided that having booked a deluxe room that this wasn't acceptable and went back down to reception to complain. When we spoke to the employee who was on duty he told us the hotel was full so we asked to speak to the duty manager. After having to wait for some time she took us up to a room with a double bed, we did notice the air conditioning was on full blast but at the time we didn't give it much thought, it did have a double bed so we took the room. When we arrived back in the evening it was only then that we discovered not only was the air conditioning on full blast but that we couldn't switch it off. I phoned down to Reception to ask for someone in maintenance to come and fix it but he told us he was the only person working other than one person on security and that nothing could be done about the air conditioning until 8am in the morning. We were suprised to say the least, air conditioning whilst noisy is not really an emergency but what if the hotel had a real emergency, how would they cope with a hotel of that size, with all the guests, it must have been a lot because according to the employee all the rooms were full. We also asked about moving to another room for the night but he recited the same thing as earlier, the hotel was full. He did have trainee on his badge which considering he was left completely in charge of a hotel that size was even more worrying. The room itself was clean and had a nice bathroom, only views to a back of the Hotel though. A turn down service was also in place so be warned, even if you send them away they keep coming back so put the do not disburb on your door if you haven't left and you don't want them pestering you. If you book a deluxe room don't assume this gives you a double bed so request a double bed ( I did but still got single beds) insist on a reply to your request if you book with the Hotel direct. The breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, good quality and good service. Checking out was slow and painful, again only one employee.
I would say the Hotel value for money was good but be warned you may not get very far if you have a complaint. Would I stay at this Hotel again, probably not I would try another hotel of the same star rating.
