Myslef and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel at the beggining of December. Neither of us had been to Prague before so we were not sure what to expect.I had booked the Romantik Package which was for 2 nights and 3 days at the hotel, which included breakfast and two welcome drinks.
We were collected fom the airport bya staff member from the hotel which was really handy as we didnt have a clue where we were going. This has a charge of 30E but was well worth the money. The drive is around half an hour to the airport from the hotel.
The hotel itself is lovely. Small and quiet and brilliant for what we were looking for. We stayed in room 3 which was at the end of the courtyard which was lovely. Rooms are decorated really nicely and everything was very clean. The reception area, and the cafe were seperate which was really nice. As well as they key for your room, you also get keys for the wooden doors at the front of the hotel which is lovely as you dont get lots of people wandering past, and you fell very safe.
The staff were very friendly and were very happy to help with anything. We didnt eat at the cafe during our stay other than breakfast as we were out walking most of the day. However, breakfast was really good. We chose to have ours brought to our room as there was a small dining table which was lovely and we just chose what we wanted the night before. There was a large choice and everything was prepared nicely so this was a good way to start the day.
The hotel itself is based about 5/10 minute walk from prague castle which is lovely. There are several tram stations around, however, everything is in walking distance so we chose to walk everywhere. There are many bulidings that you may miss seeing by going on the tram, they arent necessarily tourist attractions but were lovely to look at. The hotel is based on the quieter side of the bridge which was really nice as was peaceful and quiet in the evenings.
You could walk over the bridge which we felt was slightly busier. Still very nice, but was more commercial and where most of the shops were. At the time that we went, there was also the Christmas Market which was lovely and worth a trip if you were in Prague at Decmeber.
In the places that we ate, the food was really nice, quite basic though. Most places did the tradtional Czech food such as goulash and dumplings, but there was also quite a lot of pizza, pasta and meats around. Most places were good value, altough do watch out for some places. We did it eat ina pizzeria which looked like a small tavern, food was lovely but came to over £65 for two pizzas and two drinks. Not very expensive, but more than we were expecting when the bill came. However, we ate in a restaurant which we thought was going to be more expensive, which had a lovely menu and that was nearly half the price, including straters and alcohol, so just keep an eye out for that!
The one thing I would say to be careful of is that most places do not take credit/debit cards, everything is cash. All the restaurants we ate in would only take cash, including inernational chains such as Starbucks would only take cash. The hotel will only take cash as well, that can either be in Czech or Euros, most places accpeth both. Everything at the hotel is put on a tab and paid at the end so just make sure there is enough cash left.
We did not anticipate not being able to use a credit card, so had to get more cash out. There is a quite a large charge for this so try and work out how much you may need before you go!
Overall, we had a lovely stay and the hotel was lovely. Would recommend people to stay and would happily return ourselves.
