“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

6 of us stayed at Hotel Clement in December 2011 for 5 nights.
I could not fault this lovely hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful. This was our 5th visit to the beautiful city of Prague . We have stayed in other nice hotels but this one was by far the most convenient and within walking distance of all the main attractions.
Hope to go back in December 2012 for the wonderful Christmas markets and Hotel Clement will be top of our list !

“Quiet friendly hotel in Prague 1 with 'space for improvements'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We were looking for a comfortable hotel in Prague 1, with fresh renovation, proper room equipment, hot breakfast and adequate price. Looked like Clement would be a good choice.

Virtues:

1. Convenient location in Prague 1.
2. Silent street and quiet room: no noise.
3. Tidy room and OK cleaning if you don’t look down.
4. Comfortable sleeping place: king size bed, nice pillows (we had 6) & proper quilt covers, no dusty coverlets, normal bed for the child.
5. Bathroom: clean, spacious, everything in good condition, heated floor, the mirror doesn't get misted up, hand-operated air-vent.
6. Tea&coffee facilities in the room.
7. Breakfast: nice breakfast hall, tasty ham, cheeses, baked goods.
8. Hotel taxi service with OK prices (from 250 CZK).
9. Reception services: taxi as mentioned above, transport cards, currency exchange (5% commission), sightseeing tours, lots of information leaflets. The hotel reception staff is responsive: I sent my questions by e-mail and received a quick reply.
10. DVD-player (free of charge, to be reserved in advance).
11. No deposit upon arrival (we booked through a travel agency, may be that’s the reason).
12. Room WiFi although didn't use it, free Internet is also available on the hotel’s computer.

Hotel area for families with kids:

1. Lunch/dinner just next to the hotel: Pizzeria Rugantino II with children’s corner, My Darling Clementine, both with large non-smoking areas. Pizzeria could be busy at lunch time, Clementine is very quiet. Prices: [--], [--]l
2. Indoor games: Hrad Zabavy at Palladium (nam. Republiky). 1 day ticket for 4 y.o.: 150 CZK. [--]. Tip: Take extra socks.
3. Open air games: Park Lannova, playground in front of the hotel.
4. Toys shopping: Sparkys at Palladium.
5. Fruit, vegetables, sour-milk products, etc: Albert supermarket at Palladium.

Shortcomings which turn the hotel into 2-3* hotel:

1. Room carpet leaves MUCH to be desired – no way close to the word’ luxurious’ which describes rooms on the hotel’s site: sticky stains were left by the previous roomers and welcomed us upon arrival. Housemaids just shragged their shoulders: “We have no special carpet machines or carpet chemistry’...
So ignore the photos: room footwear or one-time socks is a MUST.
2. We advise to wash up cups, glasses and spoons thoroughly before use.
3. Smoking is forbidden in the rooms - 2000 CZK fine, but obviously it is not very clear for ALL guests because it is not mentioned in the hotel’s description either on the hotel’s website or travel agencies sites which just copy information from the hotel’s site. Just a small note in the room. As a result – our room was full with neighbours smoke one evening and till late night. I think that if the hotel presents its rooms as no smoking rooms (what we were looking for) it has to keep an attentive eye (and nose) on it.
4. Breakfast could be reconsidered as well: no real «hot buffet» - actually it was just warm, bacon is overroasted, hard eggplants, no hot chocolate. But the worst part - cracked mugs. IKEA cheapest mugs which students buy for their hostel rooms. What makes a 4 star hotel to keep THIS? Time to replace all mugs with decent 4 star hotel cup&saucer sets came when the hotel presented its breakfast room as ‘elegant and modern’.
5. No restaurant at the hotel.
6. No outerwear pegs close to the entrance door in corner triple rooms - you have to take your footwear off first there and then go to the room to put clothes in a rather narrow wardrobe (enough space just for 3 outer winter coats).
7. View from the window: opposite room, very close (on 2nd and 3rd floors). Had to keep curtains closed all the time – such a pity as we liked the windows.

As all shortcomings are possible to be improved I wish the hotel to do to is as soon as possible and be known as a decent 4 star Hotel which meets the expectations received by potential clients on the attractive Hotel's web site.

We are glad that Clement Hotel is not a ‘sanatorium' hotel but is located in one of the most beautiful cities in the world so that in the end no time to concentrate on the negatives as you'll be inspired with wonderful Prague festive atmosphere!

Wish everybody to bring part of it with you when come back to your Hearth as we did.

Happy Prague vacations! :)

“Paper thin walls lead to a sleepless night.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

I dont' really see anything wrong with this hotel. Its a basic 3 star hotel with a comfortable bed, lcd tv and a large bathroom. I did have a problem with its guests. We were stuck next to a room of rowdy individuals and first hand, we got to experience the paper thin walls in this hotel, making for an unpleasant sleep. Breakfast had ample selection, although the hot dishes were rather cool in temperature (even when we arrived at breakfast opening - 7;30).

“Too far from the centre”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We thought this hotel was a bit too far from the centre, the rooms are fairly small and basic (although the bathrooms are large) and overall, in my opinion, is not a four star hotel, I would consider it a three star. The staff were helpful though both before and during our stay.

Room Tip: We asked for a room on a high floor which we think was better.
