“Fabulous Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I spent a total of 11 days prior to and after having surgery in Prague. Being SPG platinum, I was offered a suite upon arrival, but since I prefer quiet to space, I opted for an eighth floor simple room at the back with an unobstructed view of Prague Castle. The room was a bit on the small side, but had tasteful decor, a comfy bed and a large bathroom.
While the hotel does not lie in the middle of the Old City, the 10-15 minute walk there was very easy and pleasant (I was able to do this on a daily basis after major surgery, so, I'd imagine, most people should not find it too onerous a stroll). The proximity to Karlovo Namesti & IP Pavlova metro stations was also convenient. In addition, quite a few restaurants, neighborhood bars and markets were in close proximity. The hotel itself had a small club lounge near the front entrance with breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres. The offerings were adequate, but did become a bit monotonous after 11 days.
However, the main "wow" factor, for me at least, was the great service. The cosmopolitan staff included Filip and Jaroslav from the Czech Republic, Daniela from Slovakia, Daniel from Spain, Kareem from Egypt and Gary from Nigeria. All were extremely professional and courteous. A special mention is reserved for Basem, who worked in the lounge and restaurant. He went out of his way to assist me after my surgery for which I am very grateful.
For the service and reasonable rates, I'd highly recommend this property.

Room Tip: For quiet, nothing beats the 8th-floor, castle view rooms.

“Solid choice in good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

The Prague Sheraton is housed in an interestly renovated series of downtown buildings. Rooms all have unqiue layouts but share tasteful decor and design elements. Hotel does not have much of a scene (small bar and restaurant are usually empty) but breakfast is good and there is no shortage of great bars and restaurants in Prague. Solid choice for a good price.

“Excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We had an excellent stay. Especially the hotel driver - Robert did a good job for us taking care of us in Prague by day and night. Great.

Room Tip: Go for the premier suites - we got a good deal via Venere.com.

“Very Good Business Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

As the hotel was built not long ago, the rooms are very modern, well equiped, clean and comfortable. Breakfast menu is very big and tasty. Hotel honors very much long stay guests.
Minor issues are that Breakfast staff has often to be asked to get a coffee or tea.

Funny thing was that I was placing my shoes in front of my roomdoor on night before Santa Claus (6th Dec) - hotel staff was so nice to put some sweet and fruits into it :-)

“A major disappointment. Stayed there 3 nights and walked out with disgust. Spent the rest 4 days in another hotel.”

Sorry to say but I really did not like Sheraton Prague.

The location is awful. The walk to the nearest tourist attraction will take you at least 10-15 minutes. So, wherever you really want to go, you need to take a taxi. Contrary to what the hotel's website says, the location is far from excellent.

The hotel insisted on blocking the full amount of money for the entire stay on my credit card. I absolutely hate it when hotels do this. I told them that I would be paying in cash. As I did not have any Czech money on me I checked the hotel's exchange rate. Sheraton Hotel's exchange rate is exactly 10% worse than on main street. This is a real rip off!

The gave me a 'deluxe room' which was located on the 6th floor - basically on an attic. The room was tiny with 6 small windows on the sloping ceiling. The windows were so high that there was no way to look out of the windows. The bathroom had a shower cubicle which was made of cheap and faded white plastics. The pillows were very soft and thin. If this is a 'deluxe room' I wonder what is then a 'regular room', or a 'budget room'.

The bar downstairs is open until 2 A.M. but it was almost impossible to find the bartender at any time. Always had to beg the guys at the reception to call and find the bartender.

The people at the reception were patronizing and unfriendly, almost rude.

The adjustable weights at the gym were broken. There were no towels at the gym. I asked the young receptionist Eliska of the gym to please give me a towel. She vigorously rejected my request and said she didn't have any. I pointed to the 10+ towels behind her back but she said those were reserved for other guests and that I should better ask the house keeping. I still took one of the towels and she was quite angry with me. I spent an hour in the gym and still no towels arrived. Receptionist Eliska did not care of anything else than working on her smart phone and checking her Facebook account.

Furniture throughout the hotel is 'contemporary' and very cheap.

There were no bowls for cereal on the last morning and some of the plates that were meant for use by guests were obviously dirty.

The quoted price per night did not include VAT. So, one night's stay cost me close to EUR 200. I consider this a total rip off for such a low quality hotel.

The concierge was the only helpful and nice person that I saw at the hotel. The upside is that the hotel is very clean.

The 'spa' of the hotel is absolutely ridiculous. It is a small den in the basement of the hotel. Don't let yourself be fooled by the nice pictures of the spa that have been posted on the hotel's website.

I shall definitely never ever stay in that hotel again.

Room Tip: Avoid this hotel.

Dear Valued Guest,

Let me start by stating how sorry we were when reading your review. I believe it wouldn't do any good addressing each point you raised individually, therefore please accept my deepest apology for not delivering service level you expected from a Sheraton hotel. All the issues which concern our internal team I will discuss with the respective heads of department to prevent them from occuring again. As far as the spa is concerned, please let me inform you that this is being outsourced, however using your feedback, I will definitely talk to the company operating our spa and take every step necessary to guarantee service level and staff attitude appropriate for a 5 star hotel.

Should you wish to discuss any aspects of your stay further, please send an email addressed to Monika Markvartova of the Front Office Management. She will then get in touch with you and she will also be your dedicated contact person should you wish to give us another chance and re-visit the Sheraton Prague Hotel.

Once again please accept my apology and let me wish you safe travels in the meantime.

Warm regards,

Andreas Heidingsfelder
