Hotel Palatin has very nice rooms (though sometimes a bit small); bathrooms are very spacious. Very clean; breakfast also good. Only the reception area could use some uplift. However, you cannot park anywhere close since this hotel is in the pedestrian area. Closest available parking is either on the hill opposite or in Hotel Thermal. The pedestrian area in front of the hotel is currently being renovated; so still some noise but should be finished any time soon.

The no. 1 ranking of this hotel in Tripadvsisor is not deserved. The hotel is very centrally located, which is of course advantageous in many ways, but also means that getting to the hotel by car and parking are very complicated, and that the rooms can be noisy at night. The hotel is well and tastefully reconstructed. Bathrooms are very good, the hotel is clean. Beds and breakfast are only average. There are no blinds in the rooms; the rooms are lit by the street lighting at night, which I found not comfortable for sleeping. Hotel Palatin is not a bad choice, and it offers good value in a city where hotels tend to be overpriced, but I don't I understand the enthusiastic reviews on this website.

We stayed at the hotel during Christmas and we had a very good time. The rooms are very clean and spacious, tasty breakfast with lots of choices for any taste. But the best thing about it was the receptionist, who was more than helpful and patient with all our questions and demands, making reservations for us, helping us in choosing restaurants and even a place for the Christmas Eve dinner, when we thought that we will end up staying in the hotel room, as most restaurants were closed on the 24th of Dec.
What bothered me a little bit was just that the hotel advertises some pictures with a swimming pool and a jacuzzi on the site, that enables you to think that they have one, but they don't, it's actually the Castle Spa (which I do not recommend) that gives a discount for the hotel costumers. Of course they never say we have a swimming pool, but if you don't have one, don't add pictures of one.
Another thing would be that they stop the heating in the rooms at about 10PM so it gets cold during the night, but they have plenty of blankets in the wardrobe so you won't feel that cold.
Overall our experience with the hotel was very pleasant and if we ever go back to Karlovy Vary, we will probably stay there again.

The Palatin Hotel turned out to be a treasure. Location, although a bit difficult to access by car because of pedestrian only streets, is perfect for seeing all the sights of this fascinating spa city. The staff , especially Karel, the manager, was extremely helpful..... very much beyond the call of duty. The room was very large, very clean and very nicely decorated. The bathroom was well designed and well equipped. Breakfast was a daily delight..... all of the usual cheeses, cold meats and breads, but the attendant keeps refilling your coffee cup and asking if she can make you an omelet or eggs and bacon or whatever you'd like. Wow ! We even made a new friend from Norway at breakfast..... she stays there every year and loves their spa services. When we go back to Karlovy Vary we will certainly stay at the Palatin again.
