“A good Way to Forget about the Problems”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

I would not call our stay in the hotel "Leisure" as first and foremost Karlovy Vary is a place for taking treatments and this hotel is a very good place to do this. You realize very soon that you're as busy as a top manager while staying at the place. There are so many kinds of treatments that one is to take that you can hardly find some time for sightseeing (well, you might not take the treatments, but this is what you're coming for to Karlovy Vary, aren't you?) The swimming pool also demands some time of yours every day. So, you should be equipped with a bathing suit when you deside to go to Savoy.

Savoy can suit different tastes as it consists of several villas of differen price levels all having different types of facilities. The hotel boasts one of the best full board services. Its cooks are highly professional and definitely not lazy to vary the menu. We were staying there for a fortnight with a new (and rather tasty, indeed) menu every day. The worst thing about the restaurant is the high price for the beverages. Even drinks are not that much expensive.

The personnel is trained very well, almost everybody trying to be as helpful as possible. Medical staff is as good as you can wish it to be. So, you should not worry about the qualifications of the people treating you.

There's something you should keep in mind if you're going to stay in the hotel: all the rooms there are rather different. So, you'd rather have a look at the room before settling down. You'll always have a chance to find a room that will suit you better. And they are changing linen once in three days. Should you be interested to have fresh linen every day, it is your problem to inform the housekeeper. Anyway, they don't mind to change every day, but won't do it on their own.

“Too expensive and management attitude”

I stayed in this hotel for 2weeks with spa treatment. There is no medical check up, it is only a verbal consultation and they build up the treatment programm based on this discussion. No lab test.
Booked superior room and discovered the standard room is bigger. When requested the change, they refused first and only after I complained for two days, the room was changed. Their weight loss programme is nothing . You hardly lose 1-2kgs in two weeks '!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reqested changes to my arrival date and never received confirmation email, wrote to sales, sales manager, marketing manager, general manager and even sent SMS to them and never got a reply. I called them later and they said it is confirmed and will send confirmation later. Very bad experience with Savoy

“Fantastic hotel, nest in Karlovy Vary”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2009

We went to the Savoy Westend for the Easter holidays. Hotel rooms are very good, the gardens and beautiful, the spa and the public areas of the buildings are fantastic. We had some problems when checking out - my wife and son came a few days earlier then me and we were told that we would be charged for 2 people starting with 3 when i arrive. But when tried to charge us for 3 people for all days I asked to look into it. It took some time and they did not want to do it, so I was really upset. Finally they were calling the Manager who said to the reception to give us 30% discount on the "spent at the hotel bill". Well this was not the same. But this was the only minor problem at the hotel.

“Ugh - the food in the dining room, straight off the steam table”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2009

The food in the dining room was ghastly and ridiculously expensive -- 30 Euro for a so-called "menu,", straight off the steam table, wh. included gooey slabs of not-so-freshly roasted lamb, a pile of overcooked black-colored spinach -- the other choice, odd-looking oval shaped "hamburgers" breaded and fried of mystery meat. Nearly $100.00 for two, without drinks. When we complained, the management said they'd never had a complaint before. They gave us a 20% discount. This was hospital food -- and though fried and greasy, was labeled "diet food," for spa-goers. The hotel doesn't seem to cater to Western European tastes, judging from this food. I heard mostly Russian in the dining room. The Russian consulate is next door, and the Russian Orthodox Church next to it. It's a 15 min. walk to the downtown area where the restaurants are. The office staff was less than helpful when I asked for a restaurant recommendation outside the hotel.

“A great boutique hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2008

We went to the Savoy Westend already back in 2006. It was the first time we went to Karlovy Vary/Karlsbad and we would definitely go there again because we found it much nicer than the Pupp which we went to take a look at. The Savoy is at a true 5 star level, in particular the rooms, the gardens, the spa and the public areas of the buildings. Everything has this nice Grand Hotel look and feel but the hotel consists of 5 villas embedded in the gardens. We had a wonderful and very spacious corner room that was actually one of the nicest hotel rooms we have been to. The staff is helpful and friendly and the only point of criticism from our perspective would be that the food in the restaurant could have been better - but maybe that has changed in the meantime since the hotel was only opened for a couple of months when we went there.
