The train trip to Cesky Krumlov was the worst we ever took. It took 3 legs. The second leg was 4 hours on a bumpy, jerky, 2nd class only train. It is probably the first time I ever felt train sick. Luckily we could open the window to get some air. The last leg was only about an hur but it was also terrible. No more than a glorified bus chugging along.
Then we arrived at our destination. A run down old station and not a soul in sight. No Taxis, nothing. Luckily I had written down the walking directions to town. We walked very steep downhill on cobblestones and then uphill still on more cobble stones.
Once we found our hote it looked much better. The hotel is an ancient, old building. Very charming, nice size rooms, good beds. Breakfast very good with a decent size bathroom and a large shower which is very unusual in Europe.
The town is a lovely surprise, a hidden gem.

We booked this hotel base on its good location. It is located right in the old square. The hotel and the room is good and we had a room facing the squre. However, the reception staff were terrible. They were not friendly nor helpful at all except for one by the name of Lucy. When we asked if there was any shuttle service to the bus stop different staff gave different rate. In the end I paid 150KC and not 100KC as I was informed earlier. One of the lady staff was even smoking near the restaurant when she was supposed to be on duty.

This hotel is located right in the old square of this magnificent little town. It is a perfect location to cater for tour groups which it obviouly does. This follows with little or no individual service for any of the customers, including those on group tours.
The breakfast was good, with inside or outside seating. As it obviously caters for tourists the restaurant staff could at least learn a little English. This would help!
The hotel does not have lifts and we had no assistance with bags in spite of asking for it.
The restaurant is not recommended and we had the worst apple strudle we have had in Europe. There are other centrally located hotels in Cesky Krumlov, that would have to be better than the Old Inn

Cesky Krumlov is what Prague used to be, a picturesque, uncrowded, uncommericalized town. It's Old Town is on a peninsula on a bend in the Vltava river. The castle is on the other side. The hotel is on the Old Town square in adjoining buildings. We stayed there on a group tour. It's a meandering complex of stairs, hallways and passages. Our room was was behind the window on the right in the attic of the green building in the pictures. It wasn't a problem for us, but if you had trouble with stairs you would want a lower floor. We had a balcony in our room so we could look out the window and it creaked with every step. We also had a skylight with a view of the rooftops. Actually it was nice room full of character. It was clean and comfortable and it had free in-room wireless internet access. The public areas of the hotel were attractive and comfortable. The restaurant is bright and cheery and there is a terrace on the square. There's no place in the Old Town that's more than a five-minute walk away. The breakfast buffet was good; dinner was average. For Old World charm, stay at the Old Inn.
