“Great Little Boutique Hotel in Stunning Village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

When you talk about location in one of the most wonderful medieval villages in Europe, the Hotel Zlaty Andel has just about the best prime location in this UNESCO world heritage gem of a village. The key to having a great experience in a town like Cesky Krumlov is to locate yourself in a spot that lets you walk to everything and be constantly surrounded by the atmostphere, the Zlaty Andel Hotel offers you this.

We visited the hotel in mid October hosting a boutique high end group of 26 and 13 rooms. LIke many small hotels in Europe, there are rarely two rooms the same. We had no complaints about accommodation from any of our clients and most gave feedback that the rooms were spacious, warm and interesting. The lobby has a nice casual eating area with great prices as the overcharging that happens in other locals in the Czech Republic has not reached Cesky Krumlov. Even the mini bar was a reasonable price. The hotel is very pleasant and rooms are located off mini-courtyards and off all sorts of interesting corridors and landings. The lobby is small and intimate like you would expect from a small boutique hotel. All staff was friendly and accommodating. Remember the rule of thumb, you get more bees with honey!

There are many restaurants, small shops and interesting sights surrounding the hotel and you don't need or want a car for exploration. The castle is a must-see and should not be missed. If you walk diagonally across the square, past the fountain, there is a restaurant right in the corner, to the right of the "Infocentrum", down a small alley, that is worth spending an evening. It is like dining in a Medieval cellar and has great atmosphere and authentic feel.

The Zlaty Andel is a great little hotel, not five star, but pleasant, welcoming and homey. We had a great stay on our way to the Danube!

Room Tip: I would ask for a room on the lower floors and stay away from the loft room at the very top of the h...

“Great location -terrible noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011 via mobile

We stayed at this hotel recently. It is a well kept clean hotel with great charm and superb location. Sadly all that is of no value when you consider that the local disco is located under the room we stayed at. The noise was so bad that watching TV was nearly impossible. It lasted until past 3 am. After which the cleaning started. Loads of empty bottles needed throwing out...

To add insult to injury the ventilation of the disco was such that we had smoke billowing from our bathroom. I ended up plugging the vent with toilet paper.

When we complained the duty manager said that he was aware of the matter. And that was all. Sad experience! It is totally unacceptable to pretend that these rooms can be slept in.

“Centrally located in main square, pricier than other pensions, but spacious, clean, and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

We arrived at midnight in Cesky Krumlov from Prague and didn’t know that many pensions close reception desks at 6pm. Zlaty Andel happened to be on hotel which has 24-hour reception and available rooms.

The hotel's location is central, right in the main square, 5 minutes to the castle and everywhere else in town (which is small and easily walkable)

We were in rooom 18 which was very spacious, with a large bathroom, kitchen area with dining table, and a window that faced the street (not main square directly).

Internet access in our room was a little weak, but there seems to be wi-fi throughout the entire hotel.

I think the hotel is pricier than other pensions, but given our situation and late arrival in town that was our best option. We were happy with it!

“Cute, great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

The rooms were really cute and was really big. There was a really nice, big bathroom. Internet services were available, so that was convenient. And the hotel is located right on the central square, so that was good. The breakfast was pretty good.

“Great Value on the Square”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

This hotel is right on the Square. It has been newly refurbished with all modern amenities. We got a huge room on the top floor with a bathroom that was larger than many hotel rooms! It was furnished very tastefully and to a very high standard. Given the nature of the hotel, probably each room is different and unique. Hence it is best to check it out. We got this huge room for a prepaid rate of 100 Euros that included breakfast and superfast wifi. Breakfast was a filling continental spread including fresh fruits. Reception staff was very helpful. This hotel is probably the best value in town.
