“Great location -terrible noise”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011 via mobile

We stayed at this hotel recently. It is a well kept clean hotel with great charm and superb location. Sadly all that is of no value when you consider that the local disco is located under the room we stayed at. The noise was so bad that watching TV was nearly impossible. It lasted until past 3 am. After which the cleaning started. Loads of empty bottles needed throwing out...

To add insult to injury the ventilation of the disco was such that we had smoke billowing from our bathroom. I ended up plugging the vent with toilet paper.

When we complained the duty manager said that he was aware of the matter. And that was all. Sad experience! It is totally unacceptable to pretend that these rooms can be slept in.

“Centrally located in main square, pricier than other pensions, but spacious, clean, and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

We arrived at midnight in Cesky Krumlov from Prague and didn’t know that many pensions close reception desks at 6pm. Zlaty Andel happened to be on hotel which has 24-hour reception and available rooms.

The hotel's location is central, right in the main square, 5 minutes to the castle and everywhere else in town (which is small and easily walkable)

We were in rooom 18 which was very spacious, with a large bathroom, kitchen area with dining table, and a window that faced the street (not main square directly).

Internet access in our room was a little weak, but there seems to be wi-fi throughout the entire hotel.

I think the hotel is pricier than other pensions, but given our situation and late arrival in town that was our best option. We were happy with it!

“Cute, great hotel!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

The rooms were really cute and was really big. There was a really nice, big bathroom. Internet services were available, so that was convenient. And the hotel is located right on the central square, so that was good. The breakfast was pretty good.

“Great Value on the Square”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

This hotel is right on the Square. It has been newly refurbished with all modern amenities. We got a huge room on the top floor with a bathroom that was larger than many hotel rooms! It was furnished very tastefully and to a very high standard. Given the nature of the hotel, probably each room is different and unique. Hence it is best to check it out. We got this huge room for a prepaid rate of 100 Euros that included breakfast and superfast wifi. Breakfast was a filling continental spread including fresh fruits. Reception staff was very helpful. This hotel is probably the best value in town.

“Golden Angel - Homey Hotel in Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2011

My husband and I spent a week in Cesky Krumlov while he was teaching a course. The choice of hotel and all arrangements were made by the sponsoring organization, so we had no idea what to expect., but were a little apprehensive, as sometimes the housing provided by the scholastic organization leaves a bit to be desired. Our van trip from Vienna was filled with excitement, with our driver Daniel texting and speeding through the fog and snow (yikes!) We were more than ready to get to the hotel, and hoped that it would be warm and friendly.

When we arrived, we realized our worries (at least about our lodgings, I'm still quivering from the van ride) were misplaced. What a cute, warm and homey little hotel! Our room was up on the second floor, a short walk from the front desk and the restaurant. Painted a light shade of green, the room was furnished with rustic furniture, had comfortable and warm beds, and a large and modern bathroom. The room was exceptionally clean. The only part of the room that was less than stellar was the television reception, but I think that might be a function of Cesky Krumlov, and not necessarily the hotel. And who wants to watch TV anyway when staying in such a beautiful village. The location of the hotel can't be beat - right in the town square.

The desk staff were very helpful, making numerous phone calls for us to make sure of opening and closing times of restaurants, and to set up bowing reservations for us at the local alley (I think they had six or eight lanes - we had a great time there one night with a group of course instructors. Watch out for the gruff guy who rents the lanes and shoes - no English spoken, but we had a German speaker with us and had little difficulty).

We had breakfast every day at the hotel and it was fine - plentiful but not as many choices as our hotel in Vienna. I have no idea if the hotel or the restaurant were good value, as the sponsoring organization paid the tab without us seeing it.

Cesky Krumlov is a beautiful little town, with cobblestone streets, a castle, a brewery, a couple of lovely churches to see and a plethora of well-priced local-style restaurants. Shopping is great. I would love to go back in the summer time when it is nice and toasty, but there was something very special about experiencing the place in the snow - it looked like a fairytale village. And if I do get the chance to return, I'll be staying at the Hotel Zlaty Andel.
