“Right on the main square”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2010

This elegant hotel is right on the main square. So if you are lucky, you can get a room with view of the town hall. The rooms are elegant and the furniture is quite new. The coins are the elevator (only one) and the costly parking. In the first floor is restaurant. They serve great local food. The mains starts arount 10-15 Euro. But I don¨t understand why they have a Pilsner Urquell (beer from Pilsen) on tap.

“Beautiful Hotel in a Beautiful Square”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2010

I have stayed at this hotel twice. Both times I chose the executive room. This is a room with a view of the square. Well worth the price by comparison with other cities in the world, because the square is quite beautiful, and impressive. This is a nice little city with some great beer halls, one of which is located at the Hotel Zvon. They sell Pilsner, and Kozi dark beer, however, and not the famous local lagers, like Budweiser, or B.B.B. The food at the beer hall, and upstairs, in the restaurant (Gourmet Symphony) is quite good. I recommend getting a reservation for the beer hall, which gets very crowded. Getting a table at the upstairs restaurant was no problem. The wine service there is very impressive, as the waiter decants your wine, which of course has it's own pram upon which your bottle and decanter are displayed by your table. I rather liked that. They have a nice international wine list, with a number of nice Czech wines.
The room was absolutely beautiful. It was very posh, and comfortable. I really enjoyed the room, and the amazing view.

“Beautifully restored old fashioned hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

This recently restored relic of the Austro-Hungarian empire blends character with a good standard of accommodation and food. Rooms on the interior are rather dark, but well furnished with an excellent bathroom. The restaurant is good and excellent value, and the staff are anxious to please . The town square location is pleasant, and the whole experience was recommendable

“Great hotel in a dull city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

The hotel is great. Located right on the central square in Ceske Budejovice.
Although we have stayed in the cheaper rooms, everything was clean, working properly and the bathrooms were new. Rooms were spacious. TV had many channels.
Breakfast was excellent and abundant.
There was a free wired internet connection, which was great.
Location is great.
Only problem is with parking the car - the garage is costly and parking in the square is with a parking meter. When we tried to stop in front of the hotel, just to unload our luggage, a policeman came and refused to let us do so, Only after long pleas, we succeeded in convincing him to 'look the other way' (as he put it) while we unloaded our luggage (5 minutes).
Staff at the front desk were a bit cold and not very friendly (though did their job).
We were a bit disappointed from the city of Ceske Budejovice. The main square is big and impressive, though there was not much else to do in the city itself. Several pedestrian areas and a promenade and a park near the river - but nothing special. We must say, that we stayed there on Sunday, so it may be the reason why the city looked so dull to us - stores where closed and there weren't many people in the streets. We have also noticed that the locals are not very much 'prepared' for English speaking tourists - signs and restaurant menus were only in Czech and German - at least from what we saw.

“Really quality stay in Ceske Budejovice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2008

people found this review helpful

I have booked this hotel for our honeymoon in Czech Republic. I was a bit worried as the reviews were fine but the website of the hotel was not very good and I had mixed feelings. I have booked the superior room with the view of the main famous square and I was very happy we have stayed in this hotel for our stay in Ceske Budejovice. The staff was very friendly and helpful (they have recommended a restaurant for us and bars we wanted to go) and the room was very pleasant as well - simple, but very nice decorated, with a very comfortable bed and we have received some fruit and sparkling wine for our honeymoon. I can't judge the other rooms in the hotel, but the superior one is worth staying in and enjoying Ceske Budejovice from there.
