For over a dozen years I have been staying at the Hotel Bohemia --- usually 3 times per year. The reasons I always stay here are quite simple: it is clean, safe, centrally located, has a great staff, and it is moderately-priced.
I have just returned from my latest stay, and this is a case of when things don't change, it is a good thing.
Although it is not a 5-star property (officially 3-star), there is nothing lacking. However, it should be pointed out, that there is no elevator to the rooms on the second and third floors. So, if that is a must, and it can be for some people, then you should stay elsewhere.
Rooms are nicely appointed, and the English and German speaking staff is always ready to help guests with requests. Satellite television has all the Czech channels, two or three German channels, and CNN in English. Sometimes the Eurosport channel is in English and sometimes in German. But then, you didn't travel all the way to South Bohemia to watch television, did you.
The breakfast buffet is plentiful, and there is a nice wine cellar restaurant in the second building of the hotel (10 meters caddy-corner across the small lane from the main building).
Over the years, I have noticed, that this hotel is especially popular with Czech, Austrian, and German businessmen. And the staff has told me, that the same businessmen keep coming back, whenever they do business in South Bohemia. So, you know it is good if they also keep coming back.
The location is two short blocks from the main old town square with lots of restaurants within walking distance.
You could pay more and stay in a more expensive hotel next to or on the square, but you really wouldn't enjoy your stay any more.
