“One of my favourite hotels - EVER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

We stayed for four nights over Christmas but I could have stayed forever! Our room was huge and comfortable. We spent hours relaxing with a Chang beer on the deck. The staff were all incredible, they made us feel so special! I can't say enough wonderful things about this place. Getting to play with Euro the cutest dog ever was also fun! Book now and stay long!!

“I want to go back”

We stayed for one night, then another. Don't pay more than 400 baht to get there from the airport.
The place is out of town but is beautiful and tranquil. Especially compared to Chiang Mai where it's noisy as hell and you have to pay way more to get a quiet room.
Breakfast here is delicious and so is he rest of the menu. Very generous portions.
The pool is refreshing and pretty. There aren't that many rooms so it is not crowded or loud.
Honestly, after 3 nights in Chiang Mai which were all more expensive for far less service and hospitality, we're thinking about going back. Paying more for a cab to get anywhere is totally worth it for the service, the tranquility and the hospitality of the wonderful owners.

“Total relaxation! PERFECT! definitely going to stay again!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

We stayed only 4nights before heading to phuket, and we absolutely fell in love with baannamping! And the lovely staff! We were made to feel so welcome and were treated so well. Set in a beautiful location and just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Staff were so friendly and helpful. We have never stayed anywhere like baan nam ping, and we can't wait to visit again! The food was lovely, we could use canoes and bikes whenever we wanted and everything was very easygoing and peaceful! We were really sad when we left and missed everyone including euro!(The puppy). I WOULD RECOMMEND EVERYONE TO STAY HERE! You won't be disappointed!

“Lovely stay at Baannamping”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

I can only confirm what has already been written below. Baannamping is a lovely, lovely place to stay. The riverside location is beautiful, and the staff extremely helpful (thank you Doi and Steffen) and well informed.
The rooms were clean and roomy, with citrus burners to keep the mosquitos away at night. They were cleaned daily. Breakfast was nice enough as well (Asian rice soup, or American breakfast. With fruit.) Coffee was served with hot milk - lovely!
We rented a motorbike in Chiang Mai and it took about half an hour from the centre of town to get to the resort. We felt comfortable driving this stretch at night as well as during the day. Renting a motorbike is easily worth it - it costs only 200 baht per day, much cheaper than taxis.
If you fancy a quiet place and don't mind not being right in the middle of things, this is a great option. It's also a brilliant base for exploring the villages, rice paddies and mountains in the area. We spent 4 days at the resort and were happy exploring the area without going into Chiang Mai for 3 of those days.
The nearest village (5 mins on motorbike, 10 mins on push bike, you can borrow one at reception) has a great early evening market with delicious food. There's also a minisupermarket or two.
The only downside, if I had to name any, is that the prices are a bit high compared to the average accommodation in Chiang Mai. But in return you get lots: peace and quiet and a lovely nature setting as well as very comfortable bungalows. We loved relaxing on our balcony with its sun loungers for the first day!

Room Tip: One of the standard rooms doesn't have a direct river view. All the other rooms do, I believe.

“Very pleasant stay”

We only spent 2 separate nights here and found it to be very peaceful and relaxing. It is very well run, spotlessly clean, and the staff and management were very charming and helpful. The only thing that marked it down - for us - was that it was a bit further out from Chiang Mai than we expected. But to be honest that is down to us not having researched the location properly before we arrived. As it was our only chance to see Chiang Mai we got a taxi there on both nights (400 BAHT each way) - all arranged effortlessly by the hotel. It is very much a retreat location with the emphasis on getting away from it all. We only ate one meal at the restaurant but it was delicious - breakfast was also very tasty.
