“Hotel and Spa Stay January 2012”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

For a birthday surprise my wife arranged a night at the hotel with a treatment in the spa.
The Spa experience was amazing, Rebakah was so attentive, very personable and professional. The treatment I had was great (turkish delight) The Champagne and truffles only added to the atmosphere of relaxation, really did feel as if you were half a world away.
The time in the relaxation room was cool, very celebrity! The Spa area is well decorated and layed out. I would definitely return here and recomend it to anyone.
The hotel was quite nice, we were booked into the manor house, the general standard was good The hotel staff were helpful and answered all questions we had, but some small maintenance issues let it down a little, rust to the en-suite radiator and chrome work, doors not quite fitting the frames, breakfast spoons flavoured with old mustard!?
The grounds are really nice with lots of photo ops, and would be perfect for any bridal party, or wanting to get away from it all for surprise birthday trips!!
All in all I had a really lovely stay and would come and do it all again.

“Nice location - appalling service !!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My daughter's wedding took place at Rookery in December, the grounds, function room and car park are all perfect for the purpose.
Staff shortages on the day (I was told two staff called in sick) meant that the standard of service was appalling. Their website boasts 'a professional catering team, offering a first class banqueting service'. The barman (who later turned into a waiter) wore a uniform of grey trousers, grey jumper over a white open neck shirt with a white t-shirt underneath, 81 guests sat down for the reception meal at 2.30pm, the main course was served at 4pm !
I met with the proprietor - Ian Clapp - for about half an hour the following week, asking for an explanation as to why the service had been so poor, he said he would have a meeting with his staff and write to me. 'After our meeting, as you can imagine I was not happy, I have now dealt with the staffs who were involved' was the explanation I received.

Rookery Manor takes great pride in providing a first-class service for our much valued guests, but we can only apologise once again for the relief staff who stepped in at short notice after two of our regular team became ill. As I explained in my letter to you, the staff who fell short of our usual high standards have been reprimanded. We have also appointed a new Customer Services Manager,
Kim Popham, to ensure each of our guests enjoys the 4-star service for which we have become known.

“Stayed for a friends wedding”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Our friends booked the whole wedding package at the Rookery Manor. The venue delivered very well on all counts with the friendly staff really making the day enjoyable and relaxed.

The bride and groom stayed in the main suite in the manor house which was very large and well presented. They were completely happy with their accomodation.

We stayed in room 15 which was a superior double which was well equipped and as the website pictures. My only gripe being that this room is right above the kitchen area so we were woken at 7am with clattering and talking from the kitchen below. Apart from the lack of noise insulation between rooms everything else was fine, clean and enjoyable.

We didn't have time to use the spa but the breakfast was a nice full English. In all I would recommend the Rookery Manor especially if booked under one of the many offers and deals.

Room Tip: Main manor house or single story rooms are good.

“Christmas Party 2011”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

From the outside the venue looked extremely nice if somewhat dark - poor lighting in the car park. Still I was not going to let this spoil what I hoped would be a very nice evening.
Unfortunately I felt there were too many tables in the dining area which lead to being bumped each time the person behind need to leave their table. As we were seated by the bar there was a lot of traffic and noise. Sometimes when you go for your christmas meal its nice to be able to catch up with other wives etc. When the food came it was very basic but nice if not a little later than told. This in turn meant that the entertainment was late.
