I have stayed at the Borinquen twice now, both times in January of this year. If you're looking for the cushy amenities of a beach resort, go elsewhere. If you're looking for a clean, cheap place to sleep, stay here.
The Borinquen is a tiny little place nestled in amongst the huge resorts on Isla Verde. The location is great; a 60 second walk gets you to the beach. Parking is free, which is excellent. Rooms are about half the price of anything else on Isla Verde. Beds are comfortable, and bathrooms are clean. There's a community kitchen where you can store leftovers in the refrigerator or make yourself breakfast if you like (there's a grocery store not far away).
Rooms range from small and crowded to large and roomy (I have seen/stayed in 4 of the rooms now).
There are not as many "amenities" in the room as the bigger hotel chains offer. No little bottles of shampoo or lotion; a few bars of soap and some water glasses are all you need. They do have cable TV, and the air conditioner in the room works well.
Definitely a good choice if you'd like to stay on the beach for a fraction of the cost.
