“A terrible place to stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2010

There is no coffee machine inside the room. We were told to do it by ourselves when we asked for a delivery of a new bath tissue. It's terrible.
I don't think the staff pay enough attention to do the room, since the mattress is displaced and the pillows are more like being thrown on the bed randomly.
Noise from everywhere, the air conditioner, the traffic outside, the airport nearby, makes it impossible to fall asleep without earplugs.

“Nice stay- affordable- low key”

pros: open style hotel- nice staff- rooms were clean, clean pool, a/c working, great location walking distance to beach nigthlife resturants supermarket and casinos..... no problems with water or any type of bugs and was staying on 2nd floor-- we took 3 rooms and didnt have a prob with any..

loved their little cat that sleeps in the lobby near the pool- i call it the cat the hotels mascot-as they have a name for her-pet lover here!

cons- no elevators- had to walk to room on second floor via stairs.. food ordered from bar took a long time- no place to park...

we stayed on the second floor and had no problems... the pool closes early and of course if you are looking for a 5 star hotel with perfect service this is not the hotel for you.. but if you are on a budget and just need to spend a few days to tour the island and visit its great!!

i have read a few reviews and never realized how picky people can be when paying $100-$120 a night in a tourist area where the surrounding hotel are a min of $250 a night... umm what do you expect? how the rooms were painted and if the blinds were not opening and if the towel holder was loose is really not a priority of mines when i stay at a hoteel.. but i could guarantee that it was clean and affordable and the staff ladies were friendly...

“$90 a night for a dirty, smelly room”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

We stayed at Hotel Villa del Sol for 1 night. The room was smelly, dirty carpet, noisy AC, small bathroom, sheets had stains, thin pillows, there were tiny ants on the wall I called the front desk and the lady offered to sprayed insecticide! chairs in the room were old and dirty, chairs in the balcony moldy. I was very dissapointed with the poor condition of the room. There are no elevators. My husband is an early bird person and got up early the next morning to get breakfast and the restaurant was not open. Would not recommend this hotel to anybody.

“Worst hotel EVER!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

I am not one to be picky or one to give bad reviews, but this hotel has given me nothing but hell from stepping my foot into the lobby. Rooms has roaches, bed bugs, smallest TV, bathroom was gross. We requested a full refund, which we recieved, after waiting a few days to get it, after having to call our bank and have them release our money. They have a car rental associated with them as well and they charged me for security without notifying me. The car was full of rode ants that got into my daughters car seat. They held money for security for the car, that I still havent gotten back a week later. Dont waste your time or money! It will ruin your trip coming here!

“Bedbugs, other problems. Some good stuff. Mixed.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 March 2010

It's rare to actually see bedbugs. But I saw one here. Had my hand resting on the counter while my fingers worked the channel button on the TV (since there was no TV remote in the room) and one of the little suckers crawled out from under the TV. It looked exactly like http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/69/DSCF0005.JPG. Squished it and then followed my new personal procedure (thought up right then) for staying in hotels with confirmed bedbug sightings: all bags and clothes onto the fold down bench in the shower, and sleep with the light on.
When I first arrived at this hotel there was a man ahead of me in reception complaining that the hotel had left his family's bags at the airport for 4 days after having promised to deliver them to his room. The receptionist's response was glib--something like "well, you have them now, so it all worked out in the end!" No apology. For me this was a last minute booking to save me from having to spend the night in the airport, so I tried not to judge. The man then said, "this is an interesting hotel you run here. When I was here at 4pm there were four girls sitting at the bar drinking margaritas. Well, those same four girls are still here drinking the same margaritas!" (It was then about 10pm.) There were indeed four pretty girls sitting at the end of the bar laughing with each other. I imagine that they were hired by the place to sit there, be pretty, and bring in traffic.
My room was on the first floor behind the receptionist and the door slid open and closed. There was an alarm clock in the room but it was stuck at 12:00 and the time set buttons didn't work. The bathroom was very clean and the rest of the room looked clean enough (until the bedbug crawled out). There was a working minifridge in the room, and the TV gets 100 cable channels. The receptionist delivered the wake up call on time.
The shower is a walk in and the bathroom was handicap accessible, with railings and a fold down shower bench. Water pressure was good. Soap & shampoo were provided. Towels were clean & plentiful. Street noise wasn't too bad and what noise there was could be drowned out with the window air conditioner.
My #2 recommendation for improving this room, after fumigating the whole hotel for bedbugs, would be to get a working remote for the TV and put it in the room. #3 would be a working alarm clock.
