I came back to Puerto Rico on a business trip for a week. Since I was limited to a small selection of hotels via my company's travel website, I found and settled on this one. Located in the town of Carolina on Isla Verde Ave where all the choice hotels are and just minutes away from the airport, this hotel serves as a good access point to San Juan, access to major highways, and in my case for this trip, the location where I had to work.
The major factors I chose this place:
Free breakfast. And they have a good selection of waffles, donuts, cereals, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, the works. When getting up in the morning, I didn't want to have to leave the hotel to find a place to eat and then get to work. It was just way more convenient this way. And it didn't suck.
Safe gated location
Self serve parking(I can't be waiting on valets when I need to get somewhere on time)
Walking distance to the beach and restaurants.
Nice big swimming pool for when I wanted to stay near home after a long day at work.
My stay:
Customer service is very good. They are friendly, chatty, attentive to your needs and best interests. They really seem to go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your stay and want to come back. I'm not even joking when I tell you they go out of their way to assist with with anything you need.
My room was spacious. The bathroom was fully loaded with complimentary toiletries for me to load my bag with everyday and store at home for future personal use. The bed was big and comfy. There was a small living room area with TV, couch, chair, coffee table. I had a desk where I could put my laptop and handle business. Everything was clean and tidy. I left a good tip for the chamber maid when I departed.
Note:
There is a cock-fighting stadium right behind this place. Too bad I didn't get to see a match. There's also a really nice local style food restaurant right next to the stadium. They've got mofongo and a big selection of Puerto Rican food that you might not find anywhere else. Funny thing, it's next to a cock-fighting stadium and they just happen to serve a lot of "Chicken specials of the day". How's that for exotic? Just kidding.
So if you're going to Puerto Rico and want to stay near San Juan, this place is a really great deal for the budget conscious person. The free breakfast really makes a difference too!
