“An Andalusian Home Haven”

We booked our stay with Phil and Nicky the day before flying to Spain and what a find it is. They are both welcoming, informative and helpful people and make you feel very welcome. The house is a lovely old building in the picture-perfect pueblo blanco of Alpendeire. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the en-suite shower room we stayed in had a loo with a view!
There is a separate self-contained apartment with a full bathroom and kitchen that has also retained many original features as well as having sympathetic integration of modern utilities.
It's our aim to return soon, making this our base for further discovery of the wonderful surrounding countryside.

We just loved this place.
Its like staying in a friends house, beatifully decorated in country style. hey renovated a run down house and kept the original features, but made it modern and cosy.

Nicky and Phil were great hosts. Spending time with us to make us feel comfortable, but not too much, so you dont feel imposed on.

The views across the valley are fantastic.
Either I did not read enough, or no one has mentioned that this house in in the centre of the village. The streets are narrow, but the double glazing they have keeps all the street noise out so you are assured a quiet nights sleep.

The local restaurant in the village was closed unfortunately, as its highly recommended. But on Phil's advice we went to the village 2 villages down and had a fantastic meal in the local bar. This was one of the best Tapas meals we had on the whole holiday, ad we had a lot. We sat by the side of the main road through the village and were there about an hour, 3 cars came past all locals stopping in to the bar.

These Villages and this hotel are a fantastic hide away place. Dont tell too many people and make sure that you only tell nice people who will appreciate and respect this fantastic place.

One Tip.
If you are coming from Malaga Airport there is a secret way cross country and then past Ronda that is much faster than coming up the windy road from the coast. Ask Phil. (We used both routes a couple of times as my mother picked up the wrong bag at the airport and we had to take it back and pickup the right one)

“Peaceful and Inspiring”

After an easy bus trip from Malaga, I was picked up at Ronda and transported to another world. Casa Llanete is a beautiful restored town house in a peaceful village in the hills. Wonderful views and walks (up hill and down dales). Had a fantastic class of one to one art tuition on the first morning with hostess and aritist Nicky which unleashed the inner creative! Second day I just read books, walked and lounged on the large balcony, watching the cloud formations against the blue sky and enjoyed the sunshine. Bliss... As a lactose intolerant vegetarian rural Spain was always going to be a bit of a challenge but it all worked out in the end with help from charming hosts Nicky and Phil. Lovely clear air and not many people, only peace and quiet and picture postcard scenery. A lovely place to visit. I enjoyed my three nights and it balanced well with my 2 nights in busy (but very enjoyable) Villa Marbella. An art course or independent creative break with routine at Casa Llanete is highly recommended if you want to get away from it all and re-kindle creativity in a peacefilled space. They also have a new self contained unit so when I write my first novel it will be the perfect place to head for. But until then it's worth a trip and staying for a few days at least.

“wonderfully relaxing hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 March 2008

I recently returned from a wonderfully relaxing and therapeutic week’s painting course at Casa Del Llanete in the remote, picturesque Andalusian village of Alpandiere.

The guest house and rooms are beautifully restored and decorated. I was offered a twin bed room with views over the mountains; guests are made very welcome with tea and coffee-making facilities, a sun terrace and use of a comfortable lounge. The atmosphere is restful and relaxing.

All meals were home cooked and delicious, I was given the opportunity to take evening meals in the hotel in the village if I wished – the food there is excellent, servings huge and very much recommended. Try the cod carpaccio with olive oil sorbet. for something a little bit different.

The painting course surpassed all my expectations. Nicky is a patient, experienced and inspiring tutor and has a very flexible approach. I was given the opportunity to really explore and extend my own skills and creativity and a whole range of media and materials are available for use in the studio. I had to pack only a sketchbook for the course. The village and surrounding area offer fantastic opportunities for drawing and painting and I found myself spending many happy tranquil hours bathed in sunshine, perched on a stool with my sketchbook.

The village is an excellent holiday base, having grocery shops, a bakery, tapas bar and hotel. There are plenty of walks in all directions out of the village and walking boots are useful for the mountain and valley trails and paths. Nicky and Phil are more than happy to offer maps and directions. The scenery and views are stunning; olive groves, orange trees, almond blossom aplenty.

Although a remote village, Alpandiere is surprisingly easy to reach; I took a flight to Malaga, then a bus to Ronda from Malaga bus station. Nicky and Phil offer pre-arranged lifts to their guest house and met me in Ronda.

I arrived in Alpandiere stressed out and much in need of a relaxing holiday – and found it in the peace and quiet of Alpandiere, the mountain air and sunshine, the hospitality at Casa Del Llanete and the inspiring painting course. Very much recommended.

“See for yourself.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2007

Nicky and Phil’s professional backgrounds are in teaching and therapeutic work, so naturally the courses they run are up front on their website, but if you are the sort of person who shudders at the thought of being improved in any way on holiday, or believe that you haven’t an artistic bone in your body, DON’T BE PUT OFF. They also do bed and (excellent) breakfast. We have just spent the most restorative week there, taking advantage of the range of possibilities - walking in gorgeous surroundings (at whatever level suits you), sightseeing in Ronda, lazing around reading in a house where it is easy to feel at home........

The accommodation is not luxurious, but comfortable, clean, attractive and entirely appropriate for the context of a Spanish village.Everything works properly, including the kettle for your tea and coffee making. And the local restaurant is very good.

I can’t imagine that Nicky and Phil could ever be intrusive, but they are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the local area. They will take you to meet their lovely horses if you are interested, point you in the right direction for walks and generally advise about what to see/do. I would not hesitate to go back, or to recommend their house to anyone looking for somewhere welcoming, with a variety of possible activities, accessible but a million miles from the hurly-burly of the coast. It is difficult for photographs on a website to do justice to the surrounding countryside, so I suggest you go and see for yourself.
