“Quirky hotel with the character”

If you are after a shiny modern straight-lined hotel or if you are after a reliably lovely period-property - this is not for you. However, if you are a bit more opened-minded and bored of every hotel blending with another - try Enfrente Arte. One thing for sure - this one is hard to forget.
I found it absolutely perfect for our needs and really can't fault it. The room was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was not the newest and bed was not the most comfortable but it balanced out with lots of interesting features and cosy atmosphere. The building itself is like a labyrinth full of quirky interesting rooms that put big smile on your face. I will not go into details not to spoil a surprise. And of course the main thing - self-service bar with a great range of drinks and very cosy seating - perfect place to spend a siesta or an afternoon relaxing with a book. We were lucky with the parking just outside the windows of our room -absolutely free! Breakfast was the best of all our hotels in Spain with plentiful home-made options, including pancakes, churros, fried quail-eggs etc. The location is also absolutely fine on a quiet street leading to the old bridge and a nice 10 minutes stroll to the new bridge.
The only downside - i was silly enough to forget my credit card after paying and even through they called me straight away and I e-mailed my details the same day - still have not received it. Must have been lost in the post or something. Will probably have to apply for a new one - very annoying!

“Artsy Cool Place to Stay”

Our family was there late March 2011. Loved it. Breakfast was the best breakfast we had in our Spain trip. We thought the hotel was funky and cool. Great free internet, rooms. We liked the idea of juice/coffee/alcohol bar included and accessible to guests to serve themselves. Everything was great and I highly recommended it. The only slight downside was my credit card was charged more than the negotiated price and I didn't see that until I got home. My fault for not looking carefully when I signed. I did contact the hotel via email and explained and Ana was going to refund my cc but that never showed up. Don't let that keep you from staying here though! We would come back.

Room Tip: It's away from the old town but in a way that keeps the price down and it's easier to find p...

“Second visit - Looking forward to the third!”

The moment my husband and I walked back in the door and received our second warm, friendly Enfrente Arte welcome, we knew we'd made the right choice by returning. After enjoying our first stay in this wonderful hotel so much, we chose to come back and stay in 'The Tower' room for my birthday. The Tower is an old building which stands alone behind the main part of the hotel, snugly secluded in the beautiful gardens, next to the koi pond. It has three separate levels and is quaint, rustic, quirky and cosy.... we absolutely loved it. We took advantage of the inviting, traditional stove as Ronda can be quite chilly in November! The Tower room might not suit you if you suffer with walking difficulties or back problems etc, just from a steps point of view, but we fell in love with it instantly. It has a distinctive, but not overbearing African theme to it's décor and with it's shuttered windows and old wooden roof beams, it's unique character and atmosphere really appealed to us!
Our breakfasts were delicious (I recommend the crepes!). The hotel itself is wonderfully maintained.... we really enjoyed exploring the place again and noticing the little changes that had been made here and there since our last visit, e.g. the wonderful new tile mosaic on the vespa! It is an absolute pleasure to sit in the subtropical garden, listening to the sounds of water and birds and watching the many different types of fish in the ponds. The free bar is another fantastic bonus to staying at Enfrente Arte. It is one of the many things that really make you feel like you're at home when you're there. We're not big alcohol drinkers so it's great to have the option of teas/coffees/soft drinks/juices as well as alcoholic drinks. And there really is no limit at the bar, the staff will never frown at you for refilling your glass :)
So onto the staff... they really are what makes this hotel so wonderful. From the second you walk in the door you are made to feel as if you are part of an Enfrente Art family. I cannot emphasise how friendly, helpful and warm they are. Having worked in a hotel myself and had plenty of dealings with this business, I do understand that it is not always an easy job, and to have a team of such terrific people greeting and assisting guests is rare and is such a huge asset to any hotel. Any query or request we had was answered or dealt with immediately and with no problems whatsoever. I was even wished a 'Happy Birthday' which was hugely appreciated!
So as per my previous visit, and my previous review, I cannot give Enfrente Arte anything less than full marks again! We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. An absolutely amazing place. If finances allow, we hope to be back in 2012.

Room Tip: We highly recommend The Tower room for it's unique and quirky character but bear in mind it'...

“Favourite. Hotel. Ever.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Our favourite hotel, in our favourite location. We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 3 year olds) and we were all equally spell bound by this hotel. You feel like you're Alice in Wonderland as you discover the breakfast room, chill out room, library, pool, garden... all decorated with an eye for detail and artistic flair. There is so much to look at around the hotel, you almost miss the amazing views!

The room was a great size for all 4 of us and the balance of modern decor & colours with the more antique windows and doors was perfectly managed. A great balcony out the back, an eclectic pool, aviary and aquarium full of those little fish that eat your dead skin. In the garden there was bamboo positioned to catch the wind and in the chill out library I'm sure there was a scent in there to stimulate the only sense not teased so far. Our 3 year olds loved everything - in particular the half cars and breakfast room.

Breakfast had little models of what you could have and whilst you expected to receive full size versions you are actually served portions the same size. So much thought has gone into this hotel, to stimulate, tease and play with you, you can't stay anywhere else.

Then there is the free bar. Seriously. A free bar including tap beer and bottles of wine. I wish we'd stayed here longer. In fact I wish I'd lived here when I was a student as it's the most perfect student house. The only slight fault for us was we were staying here at the same time as a really loud Spanish family whose children were out of control (attacking the fish and being obnoxious) and there was no staff around in the evening to calm things down. Otherwise, this was perfect and not only would I stay here again, I'd make an effort to try to get to Southern Spain just so I could stay here again.

“A unique hotel experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

Definitely the most memorable hotel on our trip to Spain. The place is funky, with eclectic furnishings and funky open spaces throughout. We stayed in a large two floor suite--the bathroom was on the second floor--tough at night--but a very large room. There is a free bar with a beer tapper, bottles of wine, juice etc. There is a complimentary buffet breakfast which was very tasty. There was a aviary/aquarium room with a parakeet and other birds and the weirdest but still cool "fish treatment" in this fake pond. You sit in these jetson style chairs and stick your feet in the water and these krill like fish with no teeth come up and take your dead skin off your feet. I was not going to do it but my wife said you have to try it. Definitely weird, but my feet were softer and smoother afterward. Like I said, a hotel like no other.

As far as location, the hotel is at the bottom of the hill, so you have to walk up to the main area of town. It is about a 5-10 minute walk-very scenic but very steep as well. On the plus side, the hotel is very close to the Arab baths- which is definitely an attraction not to be missed. If you come by car, you also have to find a space on the street. Not a problem in October, but I can't speak for summertime.

If you are looking for a hotel where you will be pampered by hotel staff and have your bags schlepped to your room etc, this hotel ain't for you. But if you are looking for a unique, "unlike anywhere else in the world" funky hotel experience-I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Some suites have balconies, there is also a tower room which sounded cool but after we compared it t...
