“Out of the way but worth finding.”

Our favorite place to stay in this part of Andalucia. Situated a short distance from Ronda, the Arriadh is is a well-kept, small inn outside of the town of Arriate. This was our third stay and we are looking forward to returning. The hotel is located between two national parks and not far from the city of Antequera which which we found to be filled with art and history.. If you are looking for a cosmopolitan and luxurious hotel, complete with a city atmosphere, this isn't it. The accommodations are simple with rustic charm in keeping with the location. One great benefit is the ease in parking, right at the door of the hotel. Our host, Eduardo, made us comfortable in every way.. It is possible to order a light supper, beautifully prepared. Ours was served at a candle-lit table in front of the fireplace. Pay careful attention to the directions for finding the hotel, a little daunting at night and in the rain. A call to the hotel will give you clarification. You will encounter a somewhat rough gravel road. On our first trip, we were not sure where it led but soon the entrance to the hotel was in sight and Eduardo was at the door to greet us. Don't be discouraged by the road. At the end, you will find a warm welcome and a happy and restorative stay.

Room Tip: We prefer downstairs but the views are lovely anywhere.

“Fabulous but different place to stay”

Beautiful old home converted to hotel. Excellent, friendly service. Great location - beautiful views from a quiet, rural-feeling location just a few hundred meters from Arriate town centre. Great change from the usual hotels.

“A treat! Off Ronda, but it is what you should be looking for.”

This was the first place we stayed at on our Andalusia roadtrip. We were aware of the distance from Ronda and the slightly difficult drive to the hotel, but with our rented car, both issues were easily tackled.
Arriadh hotel's USP is its location and the charm its surroundings bring to your stay. It is set in a very rural, rustic meadow at the edge of Arriate. So expect to hear the sounds of silence accompanied by roosters during the day and crickets through the nights. We were probably lucky that we had no noisy neighbours, a complaint oft repeated for this hotel.
The nights are especially serene at the Arriadh hotel, with the bustle of nearby Ronda or even Arriate far from reach. We had opened our doors to the balcony, found a candle for the table there and completed the evening with a bottle of red wine... and spoke in whispers so as to not to disturb the serenity of the night.
Dawn came early and I was accompanied for a tour of the nearby meadows by the hotel's two dogs as I stepped out to explore. Lovely, eager and friendly dogs who I named Negra y Ora (for they were black and gold).
Our hosts were welcoming, knowing well when to mingle with the guests and when to withdraw.
Breakfast was great and more than sufficient. I had one of the best, freshly pressed orange juices at the Arriadh Hotel. The bathroom was just about adequate.

We would certainly go back to the hotel if we find ourselves in Ronda again- only to gaze at the stars, wake up to an open balcony and flowing muslin curtains and to enjoy a view of the fields of gold that spread out in front of the hotel.

“Not in the town of Ronda, cold, noisy, poor internet”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

We were really looking forward to visiting Ronda, which looked so beautiful, but our experience with this hotel made us not really enjoy our time in Ronda. This place is actually in the town of Arriadh, which was not really worth visiting. It was hard to find, for one, and then once we got there, it was hard for us to sleep. Though clean and looked nice, though very sparse, having no rugs or soft things to off-set the noise of the brick/stone cold floors and bare walls, meant that I could hear what seemed like every noise of every guest in this small hotel. The owner was pretty weird and cold as well, just like his hotel.

It was so weirdly cold I had to take a hot bath to warm my feet. The bathroom had no heat and was cold, so lots of steam was made. The internet didn't really work in the room so I had to go downstairs to use the internet, which was weird because I noticed every step I made made echos even in my rubber soled shoes.

In the morning, the view of the hills was pretty. The owner acted put out while serving me breakfast (which was cold cuts (not the nice Iberian ham) when I asked for milk with my coffee. He didn't make eye contact, make conversation. Even when I said, "Thank you, take care," he did not say anything to me and was quite unfriendly. Then the hotel owner accused me of having made a lot of noise according to neighbors when all I did was taking a bath and taking in a normal tone to my traveling partner in our room at the end of the hall. I've never really had accusations made by a hotel employee like that before. I noticed he had these __% off on your next night handwritten. When I glanced at it while checking out (believe me, I'll never go back), the owner snatched them away.

After such an experience, we just wanted to leave the area a.s.a.p. I had to talk myself down and try not to take the experience personally. Perhaps the owner just had a bad day. But the noise and the cold, the not-so-exciting breakfast made this place not worth it.

“Freezing, paper-thin noisy walls & felt unwelcome”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2011 via mobile

This hotel is on a very rocky, uphill road that only has 1 sign at the beginning and end, so you don't know if you've gone too far or not. We arrived late at 10p, so it was dark and hard to find. As we didn't have mobile phones, we had to call from a pay phone in the center of the desolate town.

I asked the owner to meet us up the hill where I thought the hotel was as we did not understand how far up the rocky hill it was that our car had trouble ascending to. He was very annoyed, also probably because we had probably woken him up, but he did oblige.
He was not compassionate about us getting lost and didn't seem to believe that the property is difficult to find, even given the multiple reviews that say the same thing. His email instructions omit you have to drive up a rocky hill that lack signs in between or that you turn left into the property at the end. In addition, he ignored my sister when she tried to introduce herself because he was angry at our being unfamiliar with the area and being from a city that does not have these types of roads. He also would not greet me back when I said "good morning" the next day because my sister accidently tripped over a plannt pot and broke overnight as there is no lighting in the hallway, and we needed additional blankets from the freezing temperature in the room.

I believe if you work in the service industry, you should never allow a client to feel unwelcome or let them see you sweat. This was not the case here.

Room was large and situated in a beautiful location, but no central heating as advertised. There was a small space heater that was not sufficient such that we had to wear 2 layers of clothes and use 2 extra blankets of our own. It is not insulated well so you can hear every single small sound on another floor. The doors do not shut without keys to hold it in place, and there is a large metal key chain on it that makes a lot of noise.

The coldness, the absence of any shred of warmth or compassion from the owner did not make this a pleasant stay for me, despite the nice view. From the moment I spoke to the owner on the phone when I was initially lost, I felt unwelcome. My cold that I was almost over was further exacerbated from the ice-cold room. I agree with the other negative review. Not recommended for sure!
