“Great value, great service, beautiful rooms - we will be back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

What a wonderful surprise to walk into such a lovely building and apartment! Our host Hilde was super helpful and friendly and even kept reception open a little later for us when we arrived late in the evening by train.

The apartments are beautifully furnished/equipped and every last detail right down to the exquisite door trimmings has been taken care of. In the morning we awoke to a gorgeous sunny view from all three balconies belonging to the apartment of the plaza below.

We were originally booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for 4.

Now for the practicalities..

The bedroom was huge and there was plenty of hanging space in the cupboards. The bed could have been a little bigger given the size of the room but we were comfortable enough.

The bathroom is a reasonable size, it was immaculately clean and the shower was nice and big and hot water plentiful.

The living area is very spacious and very sunny during the day - a definite bonus for a winter say and the kitchen was a nice bonus. Just enough equipment to cook a basic pasta/meal. It was great to have a washing machine - one suggestion though would be to have a drying rack in the room. There was a line up on the terrace to hang clothes on so no big deal.

The wifi took a little to get going but worked in most areas of the apartment and was quite fast.

Overall, we had a wonderful stay. We very much enjoyed our conversations with Hilde and were very pleased with the service provided. The apartments are very reasonably priced and in a great location in a city that is very walkable. We will be back!

“Great apartments in picturesque square.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

These apartments are in a picturesque historic square in a relatively quiet area. The apartments are clean, spacious and comfortable with a classic look. The proprietor Hilda was really welcoming and helpful plus she speaks great English. She also helped us find some good restaurants and bars. Even though these apartments do not overlook the Ronda Valley I doubt you could find anywhere as good to stay as this property. Kitchenette included a washing machine which really helped as we were on a road trip. Apartment's Free wifi fast and stable. Overnight parking was just 100 metres away for €14 for 24hrs. Free parking can be found on some streets in town (5-10 mins walk). Ronda was a great place to visit and has a nice atmosphere.

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor have full height windows which are nice. All the apartments have a different ch...

“Beautiful, Quiet & Relaxing Break”

Looking for a couple of days away from it all and my wife found this lovely apartment. We had never been to Ronda so it was all a bit of a surprise as we had no idea what to expect.
We landed into Malaga quite late so I had e-mailed the owner, Hilde, to let her know that we wouldn't be arriving until 1130pm-Midnight. This what not a problem and she was there when we arrived.
If you are going to hire a car, which you will need to as Ronda is situated 45 minutes up a twisty-turney mountain, hire something a little more substantial than a Kia Picante the guy at the car hire desk nearly had a heart attack laughing at my choice so we upgraded to a '207' which was much more the job.
The apartments are situated in a quiet part of town five minute walk from the main shopping area etc.
Our apartment was lovely. Large living room with small walk out balcony, small kitchen which is hidden behind sliding doors. The bedroom had twin beds, which we were invited to push together. From the bedroom you go off into the a large bathroom with large walk in shower.
You couldn't ask for more. Lovely and clean and decorated with dark wood the whole atmosphere was nice and relaxing - just what we were after.
There is a small bakery not 50 yards from the apartment so fresh bread was on the menu every morning and I managed to practise my very poor-poor Spanish on the young girl who seemed to enjoy my efforts. The chocolate doughnuts are immense.
I notice that another reviewer complained about the beds. The beds were fine for both of us.
The WI-FI was also working, so I was able to keep abreast of the Football scores. There is a flatscreen TV in the room but we didn't bother with it.
Ronda is beautiful, it's very busy during the day with day tourists but calms down a lot on a night time where the ambience is very chilled.
Ronda is beautiful, the apartments are lovely and Hilde is both friendly and helpful.
We'll be back!!!!

Room Tip: There was nothing wrong with our room. However when I stay again I would ask for a room on the front...

“Charmed from the start”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

By car we rolled into the wonderful town of Ronda with little idea where to stay. We managed to call some places, they were booked but we were referred here so we called. While the manager was giving us directions (in clear English), my phone ran out of outgoing-minutes so she immediately called us back. Then when we arrived, she was outside to kindly welcome us, and that was typical of the warm & efficient service we got throughout our stay.

The room and environment were beautiful, as described by kegelban's and others' reviews. Plus we were glad to have multiple rooms in the apartment, and kitchen, laundry, eating area. And there was a nice terrace, a common-area but we had it to ourselves. We only had one night to stay, but by the next morning we changed our plans to stay another night, wishing we had even more time.

In CML_241's review I see that she mostly liked this place quite a bit; but regarding drawbacks that she mentioned,
-- For us, I remember the beds being altogether comfortable. Perhaps it's a matter of personal preference, or it could be that other apartments are different from ours.
-- Our apartment was also somewhat dark. Normally I don't like that, but it was due to the beautiful wood ceiling, floor, and other woodwork. With the window light I was fine with it. CML_241 had a good idea to ask for more lighting.
-- The wi-fi was weak (useless) in our room, top floor. It worked great 1 or 2 floors lower and (I'm an electrical engineer) I determined that the upstairs router wasn't communicating properly. I told the manager and I have little doubt she'll jump on it.

If I'm able to make it to anywhere near Ronda again, I'd like to stay at La Colegiata again, and for quite awhile longer next time.

Room Tip: We didn't compare rooms but we enjoyed the upper floor, corner room -- it's near the terrace...

“Lovely apartment with drawbacks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

This apartment is situated in a beautiful plaza in a lovely part of Ronda. The apartment we had was beautifully furnished and the views were amazing. Unfortunately, an otherwise great stay was slightly marred by the fact that the beds were very uncomfortable, the apartment was quite dark and the wifi didn't work in the room. As the air conditioning wasn't working while we were there, we had to sleep with the windows open and the plaza was very noisy. However, the manager of the apartments was extremely friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for her. We asked for some additional lighting in our room and it was provided immediately and someone was also sent to fix the aircon. If the other problems could be ironed out, this would be a fantastic place to stay.

Thanks for your comments! This can only help to improve our business so our guests can really enjoy their stay. As mentioned in your comments most of the “drawbacks” were solved directly and we are working on the other issues. Nevertheless, we hope that you have enjoyed your stay and we can welcome you again in another visit in Ronda.
Best,
Hilde
