We have just returned from a week's holiday and were very pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by friendly, helpful staff and stayed in an apartment just inside the gate (not sure if this is 'bungalow'). This was quiet and comfortable with lights strong enough for reading. Beds were comfortable and decor fresh and neutral. Our rooms were cleaned well every day and we were given fresh towels each day and a change of sheets half way through the week. We had a range of seating (small sofa, arm chair, chairs at table, outdoor table and chairs), a fridge and a kettle and mugs for making drinks.The weather was cool so it was marvellous to have a roaring log fire surrounded by comfortable sofas in the guest lounge. We found the bread and choice of breakfast dishes good, and some of the food at the set evening meals was delicious - soups, salads and puddings as well as main courses. We agree entirely with positive comments made by previous writers, and found ourselves in the company of several couples who often stay there, so, clearly, they have no complaints.

The free minibus service to the Harbour area was very useful and we were able to travel to Nicosia for 5TL from near where it dropped us. Mostly we used a car hired from the rental agency just across the street at a very cheap rate.

We would be very happy to return to this hotel. Occasional power cuts occur, but the hotel's generator comes into action when this happens so disruption is minimal. We found no problems with plumbing. There was a small area of black mould in the shower room, but this is only to be expected in a cold month of the year.

We would disagree entirely with the previous report.

We were looking forward to two weeks half board holiday at the village , we love north Cyprus and have been many years but never stayed Here and would never stay again !! . The staff was miserable ! The food was discusting you had a choice of too meals but you generally was given what they had , it would be good if you wanted a weight watchers holiday , it's def not a family friendly place as promised ! Must say the cleaners done there best but after staying there one week ( where booked for two ) living with our bathroom smelling of raw sewage ! We finally got transferred to the pia Bella hotel which was paradise . Would never go or recamend this hotel .

Good day! 11 days of our winter trip, we drove around with her boyfriend of 6 hotels, 3 in Northern Cyprus, and 3 in Istanbul. Love is in Cyprus, had visited only on the Greek side of the smiling ostorova love))) miss you, we decided to visit the North side, less hassle with visas. In the ranking of the estimates has left all the comments about the hotel, parking is not convenient, breakfast and dinner meals were so-so, service in the restaurant and just loved! It was cold, the end of December, we were taken to the room with the broken bolero, and we were without hot water, after 4 hours came and said to mend repair rusty Bohler podledzhit not offered to move to another room, yeah, I have so many things just all spread out, and warmed up under a blanket in the room chaynmka was not, marble floor tile without a carpet, the cold! who knows the country like Cyprus atkie and how they build their houses with no heating, and in winter there is still quite cold in the morning would understand ... down to the beach, in broshurke wrote 15min walk away, I asked at Reception as there reach, said that there is better do not walk, there is not convenient to walk, all built private villas and beaches there, but I can go to Dole Road to the city center 25 minutes and turn it to the beach which is convenient, but walking there for 40 minutes (... 1 for the beach and a -1 for a lie in the brochure ... and no matter what, just at the end of vacation as a time when I went to reception to find out where the last morning of the beach, I was a girl without a hello and dosvidaniya asked "when you check out?" В рейтинге оценками оставила все комментарии об отеле, парковка не удобная, питание ужин и завтрак были так себе, сервис в ресторане понравился и только! было холодно, конец декабря, нас поселили в номер с поломанным болером, и мы были без горячей воды, через часа 4 пришли починить и сказали ремонту ржавый болер не подледжит, предложили переехать в другой номер, ага, у меня столько вещей только всё разложила, и согрелась под одеялом, чайнмка в номере не было, пол плитка мрамор без ковра, холод! кто знает аткие страны как кипр и как там строят дома без отопления, а зимой там довольно таки холодно, поймёт...утром хотела к пляжу спуститься, в брошурке написали 15мин ходьбы, я спросила на ресепшине как туда дойти, сказали, что лучше туда не ходить, там не удобно гулять, что всё застроенно частными виллами и пляжей нет, но я могу пройтись в доль дороги до центра города 25 мин и там свернуть к пляжу который удобный, но пешком туда минут 40(...1 за пляж, и ещё -1 за враньё в брошюре...и всё бы ни чего, только под конец отдыха как раз когда я пришла на ресепш узнать в последнее утро где пляж, мне девушка без здрасти и досвидания задала вопрос "when you check out?" я опешила, если честно...постаралась не раздражаться и сросила, а когда надо, дело в том что перед этим отелем мы были на северном кипре в двух других отелях по два дня, и поскольку зима и отели пустые, приветливые коллективы поддягивали сервис, предлагая выехать когда мы захотим, всё-равно пусто, а хаускипинг не занят. тут девушка мне ответила, что в 12, я ей сказала чтоб сказала это моему парню,он у нас главный))) пока я дошла в номер, она ему уже позвонила, то как она с нами разговаривала было очень не приятно, и дело тут не в сервисе, а в эллементарной культуре!!! и цены не соответсвуют, ни сервису, и месторасположению!

stayed at this hotel in august 2011 Just looking at trip advisor and realised I hadn't reviewed it.As like many people before we were given a "bungalow" that hadn't been refurbished. We complained and were offered a hotel room at half board free which we refused and then offered a refurbished bungalow. I don't know why they are called bungalows as they are more like apartments. It was fab, with a galleried bedroom and sitting room /bathroom downstairs. We had a tv and fridge and dining table even though we were bed and breakfast.
My advice is to insist on a room change,at first they told us they had nothing avaliable as it was August but they soon found one when we insisted. The only thing wrong with the room was it overlooked the main road but it wasn't too bad.
The breakfast was ok but the staff( mostly malaysian) althogh very friendley and helpful, just hadn;t ben trained properley,certainley not in food and hygiene,The food wasn't kept to the correct temperature so was always cold even if you got there early.
We only had one evening meal at the hotel which wasn't very nice, not reccommended,
we were served a meal we didn't order, and by the time it was changed we couldn;t be bothered with it. Our advice is to get a cab into Kyrenia were there are plenty of very good restaurants, the harbour area is very nice and there are plenty of restaurants there but if you go away from the front there are some very good authentic restaurants.
Also try the village just near to the hotel for an evening out
We stayed for two weeks and hired a car for a few days each week at £20 a day it was very reasonable the hotel recommended the car hire as the one facing had ran out of cars!!
We visited Famagusta, a couple of nearby beaches and the "panhandle" which has some beautiful beaches.
I would recommend the Altinkaya as a good base for exploring the area as I say it was a suprise to find that it is a very good hotel so dont believe all the negative reviews. We are going back there this year
