My husband and i have visited the Roxburghe many times over a two year period as part of our wedding preperations. We chose the Roxburghe for our big day as we wanted a small and intermet wedding under one roof. We could not fault anything on our big day, everything down to the smallest detail was taken care of. I cant explain how fantastic and professional all the staff at the Roxburghe were from us arriving on the friday afternoon with special mention to Tim who looked after us for the weekend. The food at our reception was amazing, we had so many good comments from all our guests. They could not believe we had found this hidden gem. I would highly reccommend for anyone who is looking for a wedding venue to go and have a look around you'll certianly not be disapointed. Afternoon tea in the drawing room is well worth a look with freshly made scones, cakes and sandwhiches plus choice of hot drink, its a great way to unwind and relax with the cosy log fire in the background.The rooms are great from the standard rooms to the bridal suite which has a his and hers vanity unit in the large bathroom, log fire, lounge area with sofa & tv plus a dressing area and table and chairs. It was great to have breakfast in our room the morning of the wedding, nothing was a problem and even better that the hairstylist and beautian came to the room which ment everything was stress free.
Overall i cant express how fantastic the Roxburghe is and cant wait to return for our anniversary.

I states there for some nights one year ago, as part of a fishing package. I wa sceptical up front, having heard that both the service and the Quality of the food was lacking.

The scenery was great, and both food, service, cleanliness and my room served me well. Those I states together with, had been there several times before, and were positively surprised. Much better than previous experiences was said.

I spent a night at Roxburghe as part of excellent Land Rover MY2012 media drive. The event aside, hotel itself provides one of those old-school cosseting experiences only very old european buildings seem to be able to offer. Set within the substantial Roxburghe Estate, the place is very quiet and distant from any noises of the nearby town. My room was clean, reasonably spacious and with comfortable, lavishly laid bed. Unlike in most eating places in UK, food was great, with focus on local rusticality, and there is a proper breakfast menu with varioues egg-based dishes fresh made on your order.

Overall, I rate the experience as very authentic-feeling demonstration of the long-gone lifestyle of good old English aristocracy. There was no Jeeves to help you solve your delicate problems, though.

Three of us enjoyed lunch at the Hotel. We dined in the Library which is magnificent. Lovely simple lunch, 3 courses for £19 or 2 for £15.. Three or four choices for each course if I remember correctly. My pate and chutney starter was delicious as was the Seared Cod main, The others in our party had Risotto starter and Beef Pie main. Both very much enjoyed save that the pie pastry was a little underdone.
The atmosphere was very pleasant as was the service, very friendly.
We will be returning the next time friends visit us. When booking make sure you will be in the Library. The main dining room is nice but not as special as the Library.
