Cuenca is a wonderful town with many amazing sights. We spent only one night there in early May but you should plan for a two day stay to really appreciate this place. For abstract art lovers, don't miss the museum located in a famous hanging house. It is a breathtaking place with an amazing collection. A place to spend a good couple of hours. Walking around the town takes you up and down hills and to places with amazing vistas. A real treat all around.

The Leonor De Aquitania is very well located, and the view is amazing - the best in my stay in Spain. Drivers should not be deterred from going in that area. It is relatively easy to find the place, there is a convenient spot to unload the luggage. There is plenty of free parking up the hill. Maybe this will change once the crowds discover the place.

The rooms themselves are nothing special. The room we had was on the small size and the decor and furniture was quite tired - but everything was clean. The bathroom was functional. Without the view, I would not find the place so appealing. If you can get a room with a view, it is definitely worth it.

Staff was very nice but not very concerned by the noise we had to put up with. A group of teenagers was staying at the hotel, running up and down the hallways, screaming, throwing things out of windows. The person at the front desk seemed to think this was funny and quite endearing. I assume that the place would otherwise be very quiet at night.

This is a place I recommend for the view, the location and nice staff. Beware that the hotel books large groups.

It seems with the marriage of the Crown Prince of Spain, tourists now consider it "fashionable" to spend their nights at the parador when overnighting in Cuenca and no longer consider other options. Granted, the parador is a wonderful option, but if one wishes to spend their time in town instead of looking at it from across the gorge, then I would recommend this property.

Located in the "casco antiguo" (old town), the hotel is on a rather steep hill (but then, everything in Cuenca is) just above the Cathedral. It looks small from the outside, but once inside you realize there are more rooms than at first realized. The lobby is spacious and comfortable, the staff professional and helpful. There is a bar/cafeteria that overlooks the gorge, the bridge, and the parador that is beautiful whether you are enjoying breakfast, a late afternoon refreshment, or evening nightcap.

The hotel is literally built into the side of the gorge, so if your room is located on that side you will have a view. Our room was on the third floor and did overlook the gorge. We had wonderful views of it, plus the bridge and the parador and beyond! The room itself was larger than most that we had in the 2+ weeks we were in Spain. It was comfortable and clean and came equipped with TV, mini-bar, and in room safe. There is no air conditioning, but the time of year we were in Cuenca having the windows open was enough - Cuenca is generally cooler due to being a higher elevation.

The bathroom was a nice size, and would have been excellent except for the bidet that was placed in the middle of it. Had the bidet not been there, it would have been perfect; however, it was just something we had to work around. The bathroom was nicely stocked, though.

We did eat in the restaurant below the ground the floor, which gives the impression of going into a cave and appears to be carved into the rock wall. The wait staff was extremely attentive and the food was very well prepared. I would recommend it.

The streets in casco antiguo are narrow and steep, but taxis do go into this area. Also, there are buses that pass the hotel frequently. If driving - as we did - the hotel is rather driver friendly. There is a small space just a very short distance above the hotel to stop to unload luggage, and then one can park their car, for free, a little ways farther up the hill. It's perfectly safe.

The hotel does have rooms that can accommodate families up to 5, because we met 2 such groups. However, do be aware that large groups such as these do not normally get rooms with views of the gorge but rather rooms with windows off the street. Cuenca is a rather quiet town, so noise should not be a factor. The hotel does have suite, La Hebrea Hermosa, that actually constitutes a single 4th floor (accessed by the 3rd floor). It appears to be circular with windows all the way round, which would be spectacular, if true!

I'm truly surprised, with the number of people staying at this hotel while we were there, that no reviews have ever been written here.
