“GREAT LAST MINUTE HOLIDAY/BARGAIN”

I went here Sep. 2011 with my partner and little 6 year old boy he loved every minute we all had a great time food was ok some nights better than others but always ate well. There were buses going to palma and el arenal we went to aqualand which we all loved also palma aquaruim which was nice to go to. There are lots of shops on el arenal strip further you walk cheaper it gets! The beach on el arenal was lovely also, very clean.

Our room at sun club el dorado was very basic but to be honest we only slept and got showered in it so it wasnt a problem, it was very clean and got cleaned everyday by cleaners also, you could see the sea from our apartment also which was lovely, my biggest fear was finding bugs or cockroach (which always happens) but we were there a week and did not see one bug in the bungalow ever! staff were all very welcoming and polite i honestly could not complain about it at all and anyone that does should mayby NOT book a bargain holiday if they are going to winge about it not being perfect moaners!

Room Tip: They provide new apartments at the top which are lovely and less basic if you would prefer you shoul...

“Invaded by Locusts?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

Arrived at the hotel end June 2011 for a relaxing holiday. Looked at the facilities and decided that my very shy daughter might like the options to try new foods, sports, pools, etc. All looked good when we arrived and we were happy (had emailed hotel prior to departure to state my daughter has medical issues so could we be nearer to the main facilities only to find we were at the furthest point possible from them but omg the view of the sea!!!) then the students arrived.

Apparently the owners of this hotel had taken normal bookings but had then made discount deals to Spanish students to attend the hotel on mass - hundreds of them. You couldn't get a sun bed, get a snack, get a drink in the upstairs bar without a massive queue. Once a pizza arrived in the small snack bar and it seriously was like something out of a film - a pizza; a swarm; empty plates all within 3 minutes. The students were also very intimidating. I asked one not to smoke inside the building as it is against the law and he became very confrontational and I ended up having to speak with security as this was a common occurrence.

In the end the students were made to eat at a different time to the standard holiday makers however if they decided to take over the swimming pools you were pushed out, couldn't use jacuzzi as they took that over, they decided to book all of the courts etc so you couldn't partake of any sports and as they went from bar to bar in groups you struggled to get a drink.

Its a shame that greed by the hotel owners ruined what could have been a great time.
BTW IF YOU ARE A LIGHT SLEEPER DONT BOOK HERE. WE COULD HEAR OUR NEIGHBOURS FART LET ALONE TALK!

Room Tip: Upgrade from a closet to a larger closet at a price. Made Butlins look like the Ritz.

“Poor Pontins site”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We book a holiday every year for our wedding anniversary @ the end of September. When we booked this holiday we honestly believed we were going to be in the Palma Nova area. You are in fact 11.5 miles away from Palma Nova. When we arrived we thought "where the hell are we" as you are out in the middle of no where. The reception is very basic & the first thing you notice is that you are on what can only be described as a very poor Pontins site. The chalets, well! to describe them as basic is something of a understatement. Most people are booked into what they call basic chalets. Believe me these are not basic. They all end in the letter 'B' so you have been warned & they have just enough room for what can only be descibed as 'Cot Beds' & the smallest bathroom you have ever seen. I would imagine the overall size inc bathroom would be approx 15' x 10'. So off you trape back up or down very very steep hills with your cases to say there is no way you are stopping in those. The reception staff greet you with that knowing smile & say 'You can have a upgrade for 12 euros a night'. So with a lighter wallet, off you climb, up the hills to your next chalet. These are they class as 'Superior Rooms'. Your lungs are now bursting for air by the time you arrive at your next chalet & there in front of you is this pale green door with the paint flaking off it, broken shutters & missing tiles off your patio. You open your door & put on your 10 watt bulb to reveal your twin beds with covers on that have not been changed in two seasons. The bathroom if you are lucky has a shower that is attached to the wall, a toilet that you have to be a contortionist to sit on & a sink. Not happy! Well you could always route march back down to reception & pay another 6 euros a night upgrade & go for the 'deluxe chalets' which are right at the top of the complex & always seem to be taken. In fairness these are very acceptable if you can get one. There are 4 bars on site. 2 by the main pool area. 1 just over the road from the main dining room & 1 right at the top off the complex. There is a night club on site (all drinks must be bought here). There is a shop for news papers & there is Wi-Fi in the main bar area. There is live entertainment most nights but everything is repeated in 5 languages. Food is edible you would not starve always something to eat. If you have children please beware there are 362 steps down to the beach & it is lethal. Only attempt if you are very fit. This is a disabled persons nightmare with all the hills & steps. Would we go again? Not if we got it free

Room Tip: Be prepared to pay a extra 18 euros a night for a bit more comfort

“Great bargain holiday”

Very worried after reading some of the reviews here. Shouldn't have worried. Although a bit dated, especially in the main bar area, the whole complex is clean, and facilities are great for what we paid. Our 2 kids, aged 11 and 12, were kept busy and amused all day. They had free riding lessons, a private tennis lesson with excellent tennis professional, and could swim all day in a choice of the 3 pools, and the toboggan ride. (tip - the top pool is by far the nicer, and was much quieter).. The apartment was clean, fresh towels daily, and spacious. Think we were lucky - we had a huge apartment, right on the cliff edge. Watched the sun setting every night from the balcony. Again, apartment was a bit dated, but ok for a week. Evening entertainment was a bit naff, but we could put up with this. Would definitely go back here.

Room Tip: Heard others saying that the refurbished rooms by the top pool were fabulous. Our room (room 11) wa...
