The hotel is well located only a short walk from the main promenade of Arenal.
The bed rooms were found to be adequate although the bathroom are very small and dated and in need of refurbishment. We ended up changing rooms and found both bathrooms to be of similar standards. In the first the door could only open so far before hitting the bidet whilst when using the toilet knees were against the side of the bath. The bath in both rooms can at best only be described as a half bath or a shower tray with two feet high sides. The style was very much 60’s with yellow wall tiles which again could do with upgrading. The second room bathroom was very similar to the first except for the 1’ square hole in the wall, covered by a towel, to allow ventilation.
We were half board and the food was average for a three star hotel with a reasonable choice and being self-service you could have as much as you wanted. The restaurant was always clean and tidy with the staff very efficiently keeping the tables clean.
The chef was very helpful to my wife, who requires gluten free food. After initially pointing out her dietary needs the chef was always on hand to say what food she could or could not have.
The roof top pool area is a bit scruffy and needs to have all the broken sun loungers replaced. The main pool, although small was adequate for the numbers who used it, and was well kept although again there were a number of broken loungers.
One important thing is the noise. The hotel appeared to be predominately used by Germans, many of whom were young and in groups. This meant we were continually woken at 3, 4 and 5 o’clock in the morning by them returning to their rooms and then chatting loudly on their balconies. This was the reason we had to change rooms.
