“Been there 3 times and won't go back!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2011

This used to be a great hotel. Great location, great food, good staff. Times have changed. Location is still OK. The evening food is not so good any more. Poor choice, quite greasy. Restaurant noisy and overcrowded. The first sitting is 19:30 to 20:30 so you have to be quick with your courses.
The air conditioning in our two rooms was not working. Both rooms had temperatures of about 30 degrees. The staff did nothing to assist, despite complaining two times. Fortunately we were only staying two nights.
The indoor spa pool in the past used to be about 24 degrees ( comfortable and refreshing). This year it was about 32 degrees. You could not stay in that water temperature for too long.

Sorry Victoria, next time to Roses I will go elsewhere.

“Not bad, not great”

Location is a little out of Roses itself (1.5 miles), so you'll have to walk in there for meals and so on.
Front desk staff were rather curt and unhelpful, which is not a good first impression.
We were on the first floor, directly over the bar - where music played live until 11pm and then loud until 12pm. We're deep sleepers, so that was not an issue for us - but beware if you are light sleeper.
Bar staff are friendly.

“Would not recommend”

The room was lovely, view was lovely, BUT food was dreadful, everything swimming in grease, and we had upset tummy all the time we stayed there, the staff were unhelpful and rude, totally uninterested in any problems that you had. You did not even have a drink of water with your meals unless you bought the water which was vastly over priced. No room service, no tea or coffee making facilites.

“Exceptional location”

Wonderful hotel right on the beach front has all the amenities you need excellent choice at breakfast, the buffet dinner is adequate though dont think could do it every night!! Rooms a little on small side but has balcony to get some air. During summer the air conditioning is excellent and essential. The sunbeds are not plentiful enough and you find them all gone by 9am!! However there is the beach about 25 metres away. Lots of local (less than 10mins walk) bars and restaurants. A couple of Belgian bars virtually next door. There is a fantastic (and cheap) restaurant just along the road the hotel is on towards the canal called Can Luis. It does very good fixed price 3x course menus which are extremely good quality food and the quantity to fill most people.....The resort is fantastic, its clean , easy to walk around with a 5 to 6 km level walk along the 'Ramblas' beach walk right to the port and back. There are no rowdy youths, screeming kids or beggars on the streets. But it has life enough for everyone. There are excellent value boat, road train, and other trips to suit all pockets to local areas of beauty and wonderful coastlines nearby to explore. The parkland along the Cap de Creus is fantastic - hidden cove, beaches and very unspolit. Would highly recommend the hotel and the area to anyone who wants a beach/ sightseeing holiday at a reasonable price without the 'FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST' signs dangling everywhere you walk!! Great place will visit again

“Great 3 star hotel worth 4..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2008

Stayed 2 nights in May. Excellent position front of the beach. Great value for money and does not seems a 3 star hotel. Modern and clean. Downside, night staff not very helpful (i.e. cannot have minibar keys from night porter...) and concierge tend to advise same chain hotel restaurant in Roses. Advise if you go to Cadaques try the fish restaurant on the main square, facing the sea. (Name Rafa..something) Excellent treat and local food. Try the local specialty with rice (be prepared however to pay €€) however the food and family service is great.
