“Hotel good, food not so good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2010

We have just had a week in this hotel half board. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are of a good and adequette standard. You need to be high up to get a sea view, we were lucking getting a room on the 7th floor.

The food let the hotel down for us. First we went down to dinner on our first night at 8.15 where we were then told this would be our dinner slot and allocated a table that should then be free by that time each night. Being half board the wine and water were included which suprised us but we're always grateful for free wine. We are not really fussy eaters and can usually find something to eat but there were times when that proved difficult. There is usually several meats pork, chicken, beef etc on different days but the veg was wishy washy mixed veg very pale in colour and not very appetising. There was usually fish and a veggy offering each night. Some dishes came out over cooked where they had been left too long in the cookers and the soup looked like dish water with some remnant from the previous thrown in. The real gripe was the potato selection, there were often 2 types of potato either mash, boiled or roast and always chips but we found the none chip offering went by the earlier sitting and when we got to dinner there were only chips on offer. They seemed more engrossed in clearing the tables than keeping the servery topped up. It was a similar story at breakfast except the scrambled egg that looked really good tasted really bad as though it was made from powdered egg.

On the final night we sort a decent restaurant.

If you want to go to Roses B & B this hotel is great otherwise you maybe disappointed.

“Close to the beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

Although on the outside of Roses the location was pretty good i thought. The hotel was 5 mins walk from the beach and buses stopped outside the hotel every 20-30 mins which brought you to the centre if that was what you wanted to do.
The food was alot better than expected with a great choice each night.
The rooms were big and clean and all had balconies.
Some bad point swould be that the rooms didn't have AC. The drinks at teh bar were pricey and the cocktails were poor quality.
The hotel entertainment was garbage aswell. I'm not one to hang around for that kind of thing anyway but i've seen that kind of thing before and this was very poor.
All in all the good points far outweigh the bad and i'd reccomend to a friend.

“Good value, but eat elsewhere!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2009

My wife, infant and I stayed at the San Marc hotel for a long weekend. The kid's pool was fund for our little boy. Overall staff was helpful, and worked with what they had. It seemed that the hotel needs some updating, but overall, was in good condition for a three star hotel. Most guests will stay here on a full board basis - but you are wise to eat elsewhere. The food variety was well below average, and the quality of the food served was not very good. I am not a picky eater, but after eating dinner once we decided that the next would be elsewhere. The same holds true for the breakfast. If you are on a tihgt budget, this is the place to go. If you rely on the full board for your meals, you might want to consider another hotel.

“Excellent value, good quality hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

We stayed at the San Marc for 5 nights in June 2009. The hotel is very smart, the room was very clean and comfortable, but suffered from a lack of air conditioning during hot weather. There was a good selection of food, with an excellent choice of salads and main dishes which varied each evening, and in quality was probably slightly better than the Victoria, a sister hotel which we have visited twice before.. A wide choice of hot and cold food was available for breakfast. The swimming pool is large, but was not used by many (probably too early in the summer for many). Overall a good choice in Rosas, just a few hundred yards from the beach, and a variety of eating places if you do not eat in the hotel.

“Very enjoyable stay there”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2008

We (2 adults and a 7-year-old child) have just come back from a holiday in Roses (Santa Margarita), two weeks full board at Hotel Sant Marc. This was a very enjoyable experience. The Sant Marc is a classically, tastefully decorated hotel with all the expected facilities. Most clients are Spanish and French holidaymakers, with a few Belgians (Brits are hardly seen there). Staff is friendly and helpful (we were moved to a room higher up, with a seaview, without any question – everything else went just as smoothly). Food is varied and plentiful, and overall quite good. Besides the pools, there are activities to keep children busy and happy, including a mini-disco almost every evening (kids love it). There is good quality entertainment for adults, too. All the music and dancing is over by midnight, which means that you can get a restful night.
On the negative side, I can only point out two things. Firstly, the lifts: there are only two for a hotel with 240 rooms, which means you must be fit or patient if your room is on the 8th floor… Secondly, the implementation of the two-services policy in the restaurant means that there are big queues before the second service, and this can be annoying.
Roses, like the hotel itself, is a very pleasant resort, with long fine sand beaches that slope very gently into the sea. It is well located for excursions, and perfect for families with either young or older children, or for couples in search or a safer, quieter and, overall, more ‘civilised’ environment than deafening Lloret de Mar with its wild mobs of partying teenagers and its dedicated ‘vacaboozers’. It all depends on your idea of a holiday...

  • Liked — friendly staff, pool, location, food
  • Disliked — shortage of lifts (not a big deal though)
