Myself and my Boyf (28-35 yrs), have just come back from staying at the Florida Beach Hotel on an all inclusive basis. I was a little nervous baout this holiday as I booked it online through Sun Save (DON'T EVER BOOK WITH THEM AWFUL!) and read some of th reviews on here and was very worried about what we may find when we arrived. However we were really pleasently suprised! The hotel was clean, staff were helpful, rooms had as good facilities as any travel inn in the UK. The hotel was proably 4* a few years ago, but compared with other 4* resorts I have been to in Dom Rep, it didn't have all the frills of those, but was nice and had all the facilities you needed. The location of the hotel is about 5 minute walk from the beach and town centre, with shops/ supermarkets minutes away. The hotel is right by the beach, but you have to cross a road to get to it and if you want to spend the day on the beach it costs 2.50 euro's for loungers, plus 2.50 euros for an umbrella. Our room was spacious and we had an excellent sea veiw from the balcony, we had a nice clean bathroom, wardrobes, T.V. seating area and safety dep box (need to pay 14 euros for). The rooms were cleaned everyday and our beds changed at least twice during our weeks stay. The facilities at the hotel included indoor pool (next to gym), outdoor pool (at least 20m), 2 bars, resturant, internet, entertainment programme, tennis courts, sauna, kids club. The food was really good and great fro those wanting to be healthy whilst on holiday, it was great as there was plently of salads and fruit. Breakfast was great, cooked breakfast available as well as cheese, ham, olives, fruit, yoghurt, cakes, pastries, cereal, tea, coffee, juice etc. Snacks were served between meals of salad/ meats/ cheese/ chips/ pizza/ hotdogs. Lunch and dinner were quite similar although different lunches and dinners everyday included hot choices/ salads/ fruit/ (pizza & chips lunch only)/ cheese platter/ ice cream/ desserts etc there is something for everyone, however if you are expecting english food soley then you may want to go self catering and go to one of the pubs down the road, as it does tend to cater for all nationalities and more towards the continental market. Please note that ice lollys/ ice creams outside of the lunch/ diner times aren't included in AI also you don't have a drinks fridge in our room. Drinks include soft drinks, local cocktails/ sprits and lager including Keo/ Carlsberg. What we were really impressed by was that on our last day, we were given a room free of charge for 40 minutes to have a shower, get changed before our evening flight, which was really great!
Like I said at the beginning of this review, I was concerned about the hotel due to the reviews, however you have NOTHING to worry about, it is a nice hotel, clean, good food, good facilities and good location, do not listen to any of the negative reviews! If you are looking for more frills and a bit more luxury, I suggest that you look into Grecian Sands or the Atlantico Beach club which are across the road and are right on the beach, but you will pay more money.
