“Amazing holiday, Great hotel!”

Me and a friend both aged 19 stayed in anmaria Aug 2011 and it was amazing! Napa is great nightlife! And its not full of drugged up idiots like most Places (ibiza, magaluf ect.) When we arrived there was a man on reception couldnt speak much english so we went straight to the room! Went back down to ask for a safe so we could put all our stuff in and go out, but he didnt understand and told us to come back in the morning. The rooms are nice! Comfertable beds, decent bathroom ect. The balconys are abit exposed! We went to have a look out our balcony and interupted a couples intimate moment on their balcony.. abit embarrising! The pool is lovley! theres more than enough sunbeds for everyone and the pool is lovley! not too cold! One bad thing about the hotel is the food, we booked half board but when we got there we found out it was only 120euro to go all inclusive, free drinks til 12am free food all day its definitly worth it! But the food reallly wasnt nice! i ended uphaving chips and gravy every night for tea! Breakfast was okay but only because i lived off egg sarnies every morning! Bar staff are great! Lovley woman behind the bar on a night and the receptionist was also lovley! Helped us with all hotel needs! On the last day we had a night flight and got chucked out our room at 10am! Was a little annoyed but it got worse when we got sent to the showers/changing rooms in the underground level! It was SO HOT. i did my make-up and started sweating it off within 5mins! The nightlife is crazy, Bedrock, Carwash and Bell Bar were among my favs :D The walk to the strip from the hotel was described as a 10/15 min walk and it probably was 10mins but only felt like 2mins! Just make sure you dont walk back by yourself quite alot of alleys/small streets! All in all amazing holiday One of the best!

Room Tip: Ask for pool vew!

“Want hot food? Try somewhere else!”

I visited the Anmaria hotel on my own for 10 nights in October 2011 and never having been to Ayia Napa before was a bit concerned that it would be filled with lager louts (we all know the reputation of Ayia Napa). I needn't have worried (or maybe it was my good fortune to go off season!) The hotel and its location were fabulous with easy access to the famous square and plenty of shops. The buses were plentiful but be aware that if you get a 101 bus out of Ayia Napa you will want a 102 bus back. The staff were (by and large) helpful, friendly and welcoming. I was given a room overlooking the pool with a wonderful sea view although I would agree with other reviewers that the balconies are not private (just hope that you get good neighbours!) The room was adequate although the bathroom was strange to navigate because of the layout. I was on an All Inclusive basis and perhaps that was my only mistake. I expect on AI to only receive house wine and and that it is hit and miss. What I didn't expect was to be told that I couldn't have house wine because I was AI but instead I was given wine from a carton (yuk!) The earlier reviewer who liked the triple drink measures they received probably didn't see the bottles they were poured from as the AI drinks were lower alcohol, typically 18%-25% proof, which explains that you needed a triple measure to get any taste. There was always a varied selection of food in the restaurant and as others have said you will never go hungry but my experience was that the food was only lukewarm even if you went when the restaurant first opened. There was nothing sadder than to see people repeatedly asking for their food to be heated in a microwave (even at breakfast!). The only other thing that personally spoilt my holiday was the so-called daytime "entertainment" from Thomas Cook's animation team. It's not my sort of thing anyway but I appreciate that others like it and I can normally turn off from what is going on and read a book. However, you can't tune out if the music volume is constantly going up and down depending on whether the person doing it likes the particular song being played. I personally felt that the "entertainment" as provided was something that would probably be welcome In the peak season but not at the end of season when a lot of people tend to go for a more restful holiday, although in fairness there was no pressure to get involved with any of the activities.

All in all I think that this hotel is a wonderful place to stay as it is slightly away from the main square but close enough to get there in a few minutes if you want to (and I noticed that the hotel had a fair number of repeat visitors) although I would personally recommend staying there on a b&b basis and eating elsewhere unless you don't mind the food not being served hot. I'll be back to Ayia Napa at some stage but I think I'll try a different hotel next time.

“Great location and pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

My friend and I stayed here this summer and thought the hotel was very nice. The room was very spacious and clean however the decor was a little dated and could have done with a refurb. The pool was lovely and as my friend can not swim it was perfect for her as it was the same depth throughout the whole pool (around shoulder depth), there was also a baby pool. We never had any trouble getting a sun lounger and we would sometimes go down to the pool at around 12pm! There were quizzes and games going on in the pool throughout the day which was entertaining.
The food in the hotel was good, although there was not a lot of choice there was always something you could eat. The pool bar service wasn't great though - they did not bring us our correct meals even though they double checked the order with us. The service behind the pool bar when buying drinks was great though and we would often get free drinks!
The location was good for shops and restaurants but we had to get a taxi to the main square every night as it was not a nice walk. This cost around 8-10euros each way. We were disappointed to find the beach in front of the hotel was not much of a beach as it was very stoney and there was no way of getting into the sea.
We went on some trips which the reps told us about - a beach party in Nissi and a bar crawl. These were both very fun but started way to early for us (8pm), as we were not used to going out until around 1-2am. There were a few other people staying at the hotel who were around our age (19yrs) but there were also a few couples and families. This hotel is suitable for most ages but not really for those with younger children.

Myself and a friend both 18 stayed at this hotel in July 2011 for two weeks we was all inclusive and we really had a really nice holiday.

BREAKFAST was fantastic only made it once with all the partying !! but everything you except and more help yourself proper full english if you want it a large selection of breads doughnuts really good breakfast and a help yourself juice machine. LUNCH again help you alot of pasta chip meats etc. you could order of a menu between 3-6 if you was all inclusive for free great food im vegetrian and loved the veggie burger with chips ! could also order burgers pizzas jackets patatoes pastaaa a large choice. EVENING MEAL very formal lovley clean dining area and a large selction of foods
SERVICE found all bar staff very friendlyand really got to know them ! waiter and waitress all friendly but we had our favs lol ! A few of the reception staff were a bit rude but i think it was a culture barrier
CLEANLINESS everywhere was spotless , the maids come in everyday and clean very well, always clean towels etc.the pool area was always so clean never any mess there was a man always walking around collecting empty glasses etc
POOL AREA fantastic great size clean plenty of sunbeds and loads of pool toys it was like a little oasis !
AREA great right in the center but still quiet loads of shops near it says a 20 minute walk to the center, but its less theres a shortcut it only takes less than 10 min lovley sea view really closethe beach isint that good but i dont like sand anyway, but its nice to have a walk along it
ROOMS clean tidy everything you need plent of coat hangers, the fridge is poor the hair dryer is awful but everthing else is fine, the balcony is great we had pool facing and was top floor it was so nice to sit out there, the aircon was great deffo needed it !
ENTATIANTMENT our reps were great really tried hard with the entatianment always fun and very active, the reps were like our friends by the end of the holiday.

WOULD DEFFO GO BACK TO THIS HOTEL IT WAS LOVELY ITS NICE FOR A PARTY HOLIDAY, BUT YOU STILL WANT A NICE PEACFUL HOTEL :D :D

Room Tip: get pool facing so much better !!!

“great pool, shame about the bar staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

Anmaria is one of a chain of tsokkos hotels, built in a good location just on the fringe of the centre of Ayia napa with views of the sea which is a 5 minute walk away to a rocky shore line. Nissi beach is a 35 minute walk along a lovely coastal route, or 1 euro on the bus. walking the oppersite way one can walk to the harbour and large sandy beach (go to the centre of the beach to avoid the rocks) this walk will take 20 minutes.

The pool area is outstanding, surrounded with palm trees, plenty of sun beds with views of the sea and is kept spotless, the only complaint is the bar staff, Dimitris and Anna which are the most sour faced pair you could meet and not a please or thank you from them for the whole fortnight, (no wonder the tips jar was always empty).

The rooms are a bit on the small size with a tiny fridge and most of them (that we saw) could do with redecorating, the maids were in each day to make the beds and change the towels etc., and we always got a smile and hello from them (they should be put behind the bar).

Not going to say to much about the food as personal taste can vary hugely only to say the choice of food could be better, the local wine is good and the lamb is very good.
The entertainment was good up to a point , theres 3 girls that really do a great job ( 2 Emmas and Steph ) really good singers but a bit of veriation would have been good.

My general view is that the reception and pool are 4 star but the rest is struggling and the sound proofing is terrible between rooms, but on the whole a lovely hotel to spend a week or two, would l go there again ?........probably not.

Room Tip: watch out for over booking,
