“Happy Days”

My partner, myself and our 5 year old daughter stayed at Electra Village 31.08.11 - 11.09.11.

Accommodation - I had specifically booked a room with a balcony but on arrival we were allocated a room on the ground floor. We returned to reception and explained the issue and requested to move. The staff were very amiable, we moved after two nights to a room with a balcony overlooking the quiet end of the swimming pools. The second location was perfect for us. It has been said many times that the interiors of the rooms need to be updated, they do. The furnishings are dated and the furniture could do with replacing. Having said that, the rooms were clean on arrival and cleaned daily whilst we were there. We hadn't planned to spend much time in the room anyway so it was no hardship!

Facilities - the pool areas were great for us and our daughter. The waterpark was amazing and exceptionally clean - the slides were a big hit with our daughter. We spent more time than we'd planned in the waterpark because it was so lovely.
We stayed all inclusive and the quality of the food was very good. We are all vegetarian but found it easy to find food at all meal times. Outside the main meal times, there was a choice of food from menus. This food was also good and meant that you weren't restricted to meal times.
Our daughter enjoyed the kids club, she went to 3 sessions (one session she was the only child there) and she especially loved the mini disco each evening. Sandra and the other staff members were exceptionally good with the children, getting them involved in activites and entertaining them.
There was entertainment every evening and although I probably wouldn't have gone out of my way to watch had we not been on holiday, it was always entertaining and there was a great atmosphere.

Location - it's just a short walk from Electra to one of the nicest beaches in the area - Sandy Bay (before Nissis Beach walking along the coast). We walked into Ayia Napa most days or evenings and it wasn't taxing. There are plenty of shops, bars and restraunts nearby if you don't want ot travel too far out.

Activities - hiring a car is always good in Cyprus. We took several trips out; to the camel park outside Larnaca, through the Troodos and up to the top of Mount Olympus, down to Nissi beach (too lazy to walk that day!). We also went on a 'Simply Cyprus' excursion which was very enjoyable. As always, the prices in the 'museums' and 'shops' visited were considerably higher than back in Ayia Napa but you expect that.

This is the 7th time my partner and I have been to Cyprus but the first time to Electra Village. We would definitely consider returning there as it was an ideal location for families and we probably had the best holiday we've ever had.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms don't feel very private and are often overlooked by other rooms. The poo...

We went here with a party of 8. with two kids at the end of sept for two weeks and we got married in Ayia Napa and had our wedding reception here. it was lovely hotel did a great job on the day. staff so friendly do anything for you. the best holiday ever. yes the rooms are basic but cleaned everyday. The food is good. And i am a fussy eater. The beach is lovely but you do have to pay for sun lounger which is 2.50euros. The water park is fab kids loved it and so did we. The holiday was fantastic to start to finish and we are booking for next year cant wait.!!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: balcony pool view i would recommend.

“electra village, nissi beach.. " HIGHLY RECOMMEND "”

Stayed sept/oct 11... Would just like to say this is a fantastic place to stay for families as we took our 6 kids and all didnt want to leave after our 10 nights, the review by Alwilkins was spot on so i cant really add anymore to that, the waterpark is absolutely fantastic but could do with maybe a few more sun loungers in peak season but we always found chairs to sit down as and when we needed to.
The entertainers were fantastic with the kids and on the night of our departure, Anis (entertainer) was even helping people out to the coach with there luggage...
Would very highly recommend this place to any families with children of all ages..
We got chatting to quite a few other couples with children and have all returned to Electra at least 4 or more times yr after yr and i can see why.

“Robbed Whilst Sleeping”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

September 2011

Arrived at the Electra Holiday Village checked in at 1.30am we had 2 studios and was a party of five, we were refused a safe till the morning by the night porter and told we could purchase a key when the day staff came on duty. We were put in block 18 where the rooms were nice pretty basic but clean but there was no outside lights, went to see the night porter and asked where the lights were and was told there was none but we could be moved in the morning. It was late and we had a long flight at 2.30 am we went to bed setting my husbands mobile phone for the morning, i fell asleep at 3am, we woke feeling unwell at 9am to find the patio door which we had locked open and all our belongings gone. Money laptop phones cameras etc.. How could this happen?????

The police came after 5 hours and we were changed rooms straight away but the hotel did nothing did not offer us a phone or internet access to contact home for help, infact i found out who the manager was and had to go and see him after 4 days and he did not want to know. We spent the rest of the holiday putting chairs up against doors and patio doors every night but this still did not help any of us sleep, even the new rooms we were put in had faulty door locks. The hotel in itself is very basic and the food is terrible, if you want to feel unsafe then book this hotel, the thought of what could have happened to us is something we can never forget this truly was the holdiday from hell.

“wouldn't go back again”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

the rooms are clean but would benefit from some updating and a coat of paint, very dreary and brown. Also there is no light on the balcony so you can't sit out there at night and read if you prefer not to go to the entertainment. The entertainment itself is really amateur, although Annis and the girls are very enthusiastic they're not very talented! Fine if you like bingo though.
The food is repetitive, fine if you enjoy the leftovers of last night's dinner turning up again at lunch the next day. The snack menu in the afternoon was much better with toasties etc cooked to order.
Although stated in the brochure as being exclusive to UK customers, there were lots of Russians there our 1st week and lots of Finns and Norwegians the 2nd.
The waterpark is good, could do with more sunbeds there though. We didn't experience any problems getting a sunbed around the pool although this may have been because we were there in late September.
This could be an excellent place if it was spruced up a bit and the food was improved so although i would go to this resort again i wouldn't choose the Electra Village.

Room Tip: away from the stage area
