“looking forward to the changes”

visited barringtons easter and july with my family, we have a timeshare with the hotel and have been going for the past 10 years!
lovely hotel although has gone down hill in recent years.
the hotel now has new owners and we are looking forward to the changes that will hopefully be happening!
the hotel needs updating especially the swimming pool!
the staff used to be so friendly and nice and made you feel very at home however last time the staff didnt speak very good english and had no idea what they were doing!
the food is a good price however could be nicer! seemed cheap and quickly done!
a huge selection of ice creams, food and drinks would be great in the splash bar!
potential to be great! fingers crossed!

“Couldn't stay away”

Now this is a difficult one for me, because this place is not the sort of place that I normally go to as I am not sporty and predominantly the guests are golfers. But, having said that, the food is so good and so realistically priced we ate there every single night in our last stay in Vale do Lobo............I cannot compliment anywhere more. They now have a little pub on site which is again presented to perfection but are not out to rip people off. I really don't know how they do it for the money, but keep it up Barringtons I love you.

Room Tip: Quality without the price tag.

We have enjoyed holidays in Quinta and Vale do Lobo for many years normally renting a villa when the family were coming with us. Now the family are all doing their own thing and there was no point in renting a villa for the two of us so this September we had two weeks in Barringtons where the accommodation, facilities and staff were first class. Three rounds of golf were arranged by David Johnston with no problem. We shall return!

“Vale do Lobo on a budget”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

Anyone who has visited the 'Golden Triangle' of Almancil, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo will know how high the quality is and how expensive the area is. We needed to stay from 7th - 14th September and the Dona Filipa wanted over £1,500 whereas Barringtons charged €105 per night for a large room and continental breakfast - €735 in total.

Ok so Barringtons is not really walking distance from the Praca and the beach (as far as my wife and her heels are concerned) but it is a short 2 minute drive. After coming to this area for 10 years I was sad to see parking charges now but I can understand why.

On the same subject Barringtons boasts squash courts, an excellent fitness suite, an indoor and outdoor pool, a putting green, a driving range, a pool bar, a restaurant and much more. I am told that new owners took over less than a year ago but can only make small changes without spending BIG money. Nevertheless, there is evidence of attempts to do so and the staff are very accommodating.

The outdoor pool is great and as this is a members club the management need to pay attention to the members' views on board as they are there a lot more than us tourists and it seems they want value. Barringtons provides excellent value and although the food is pretty average €10 per head for an all-you-can-eat BBQ is great value wherever you are.

The rooms are huge and have a wet room plus bath and separate shower, they also have a huge balcony with 2 x sunbeds and pads plus table and chairs. There is also a sofabed in addition to the main beds(s) plus chairs, tables and a dresser. There is also a kind of walk in wardrobe room with hanging space, drawers, a fridge/minibar and a roomsafe. The management have no issues with you buying wine/beer/water from the supermarket and cooling it in the minifridge, even providing a corkscrew!

We did this not to save money but because we like to end the day with a 'sundowner' prior to showers and heading out to a restaurant for dinner. Would we return - yes definitely. Are the stairs an issue - NO. We were on the 2nd floor and had to negotiate a total of about 40 steps to reach our room, however you do this once on arrival and once when you leave so it is not a big issue, unless you are old or infirm.

In short a great little place for chilling, sport, swimming, relaxing and so on. A good base for this area and great value. I will post some pictures as soon as I download them!

Room Tip: The Pool view rooms get the most sun on their balconies but the other side is more private.

“A find in vale Do lobo”

We have been to this Boutique Hotel several times over the past 6 years and we just love it! The larger rooms on the 2nd floor are best and super large, like a suite, fab bathrooms, seperate wardrobe area walk in with fridge, the balconys are huge, if you get a room at the back of hotel the balcony is shaded from aprox 6pm ,cooler room! The reception staff are very helpful and friendly.Breakfast is ample, very tasty and the waiter is super efficent but dont expect a big menu. lunch by the pool side bar is great, always fresh and tasty.
There is a very big gym which we didnt avail off, we used the indoor pool in the evenings.
The best thing about this hotel is its location and price....unbeatable!! We just cant wait to go back!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the larger rooms on 2nd floor
