“Our Silver Wedding trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Lagunamar is more than a hotel. It is a 5 storey complex of apartments but set out as a hotel. There is the main reception which is open 24 hours a day and in-house bar and restaurant. The apartments are just amazing. My wife and I stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment which is fully equipped for self catering should you wish. There is a large bedroom with huge and comfortable bed and a TV. The wardrobe contains a safe. The bathroom is exquisite with shower over bath, bidet and washbasins. Towels were renewed every day. The kitchen had all mod cons including oven and microwave. The lounge/dining room was huge and comfortable with a balcony which had table and chairs. Our room had a pool view but you could also see the lagoon and the sea beyond. The whole apartment was spotlessly clean and was cleaned each day during our stay. The whole apartment had air conditioning which was really effective. We had booked to stay half board so quickly became familiar with the Rouge Restaurant. Breakfast is a self serve, buffet style which you can visit as often as you wished. A full range of cooked breakfasts were available and kept warm in covered, heated compartments. There was a big range of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, fruit drinks, cheese, ham, breads and sweet cakes. A toaster was available should you wish to toast bread. Butter, marmalades and jams were available in endless supplies. Tea or coffee was delivered to your table by one of the friendly and hugely efficient staff. All of the waiting staff spoke excellent english. The evening meals were excellent with a choice of a fish or meat dish each day. Soup and a dessert were included. Daniella and Vanda were our waitresses and went out of their way to deliver a 1st class, friendly service. We stayed to celebrate our Silver Wedding and the staff were able to supply an absolutely amazing floral arrangement which was secreted into our apartment to surprise my wife. Everything about the hotel and the staff were excellent. The outdoor swimming pool is large but unheated. There is a heated indoor pool which has a jacuzzi within its building. There is also a gym and a steam room. We could not have wished for better. As with other reviews I have read, I would endorse the fact that you do really need to have a car when you visit. The beach is within walking distance but would probably take about 20 mins. The car ride was a mere 3mins. The nearest shops were approx 2km away but were an exceptional shopping mall and well worth the visit. The nearest town is Almancil which has a full range of shops and services. I Have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to ANYONE but with a car for transport.
The beach was very good with some really good bars and restaurants just behind the dunes. The shopping mall approx 2km away had a full range of modern boutiques, restaurants and cafes. I would recommend the Irish Bar which is situated at one end of this complex. Amazingly I found parking in Portugal to be mainly free but this mall does charge a minimal fee.

“A short but very nice stay in Lagunamar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

This time I went to Algarve on work. I stayed at Lagunamar for only one night, in a one room apartment.
Very good location. This is one of the most beautiful areas in Algarve.
The lobby was very modern and pleasant.
The apartment was huge, very new, with a sober decoration. Every room was spotless. The kitchen was very complete.
The staff was all very kind.
We dinned at the restaurant hotel, called "Rouge". I loved the restaurant's decor. We ordered someting for the take away menu but ate at the restaurant. The pasta was wonderful!!! And the service was excellent.
Unfortunely, we couldn't enjoy the exterior pool, because of the bad weather.
I regret for not having the time to enjoy the interior pool and jaccuzzi. Both seemed great.
The hotel offered us a late check-out, which was very useful.
My only negative point on this hotel: breakfast. It was very plain, with little variety. I expected a better offer of breakfast from a 4 stars hotel.
I would definetly return to Lagunamar!

“Wonderfully relaxing holiday”

Marvelous place. Great facilities, garden pool, view, beach nearby. Breakfast is superb. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Rooms/suites are huge and spotless. Very relaxing vacation.
You NEED A CAR. There does not seem to be a bus, and there are no stores in walking distance. O Tanque restaurant nearby is charming Portugese style place for lunch or dinner.
There is an indoor pool, hot tub, and health facility if you can find it. Restaurant on-site too, perhaps OK, but not well attended just now.
This is a great base for exploring the Algarve too. Bring a map or GPS.

Room Tip: Rooms near restaurant get WIFI, otherwis you need to go down there. It is not available throughout h...

“Good surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

I just booked this hotel to "runaway" from the city during a national holiday and didn´t expect much from it. It become a very nice surprise. From the lobby to the restaurant all the areas are very clean and well decorated. The room, I mean, the apartment was huge and there were more than space enough for a family of 3. Good flat TV screens in the master room and at living room with a good range of channels, confortable beds and couches, kitchen facilities (great for us with a small boy) and a good bathroom. The indoor pool is not big and as the hotel was soldout become crowded, but I think that in regular seasons one can have a nice time there. We didn´t use the outdoor pool as it was cold at the time, but the surroundings and pools (adult + children) seemed ok. The breakfast is regular and the restaurant service is OK. I do reccomend this hotel for families and for people looking for a relax break. Be aware that you´ll need a car to go anywhere as the hotel is isolated.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view room

“Fantastic Hotel, Fantastic Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

We stayed here between 19 - 26th Aug 2011. We looked at the reviews written on Trip Advisor & Expedia, they all sounded encouraging. The location was fantastic, a truly hidden gem. 10 minutes walk from the beach. The only draw back is that if you do decide to go you need a car. There is NO shuttle service as posted on one of the reviews, we arrived without our driver licence as we thought we could utilise the shuttle service, however found out there wasn't one running!!! Taxi's are a little on the expensive side so are the small shops in the resorts, I would suggest you shop at the larger supermarket in Alamancil (Pingo Doce) it is the Portuguese equivalent to ASDA in the UK, only much nicer!!!
We were a family of 4, children loved their time there, the pool was quiet from 8 -3pm we had our own pool (or it seemed so), many of the Portuguese holiday there, so no loud brash holiday makers. This is an ideal holiday if you want to kick back and relax. We have decided to go back again next year.

Room Tip: Ask for a poolside view/ sea view on 2nd or 3rd floor.
