“Dear Sirs,”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2011

Dear Sirs,

Mr. Ruggero and his guest would like to take the time out to thank you and your kitchen staff for taking into consideration the dietary necessity of his/your guest.

The restaurants atmosphere was very warm and inviting. Most captivating and thoughtful was the meal. Having a diabetic at a table is not an easy job......

Yet still at ORTO DEGLI ANGELI a diabetic is treated like a royal. It was amazing to know that with the simplest ingredients a heart was warmed and a soul was captured. Hats off to the chef! We will recommend ORTO DEGLI ANGELI to all of our friends and Family.

Moreover, Please keep up the quality.

“Magical/Romanic Wedding Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

cannot rate the L'orto highly enough. I had my wedding reception there in October 2010, I am Irish and my husband is Italian, we've attended many weddings in some lovely venues in many different Countries, France/Ireland/England/USA and Italy, but hand on heart this is the most Unique/Spectacular/Romanic venue ever. There were over 12 different nationalities represented at my wedding and everyone made a point in telling us that the hotel was breadthtaking and experience was fabulous. This medieval hotel is truely unique, all of the 14 suites (consisting of 3 rooms!!) are completely different with centuries old frescos on the ceilings . Even the Italians who are from Umbria thought it was unbelievably beautiful. The staff are so friendly and accommodating, every request and task were dealt with in such a professional manner. they really went the extra mile to make it the most special day. A big thanks to Monia/Paulo and Tiziana who were so patient and helpful throughout, they made organising a wedding from abroad very easy.

i can't leave without commenting on the fabulous restaurant, Redibis,, WOW!, you will find it very hard to find better food or wine in Italy (and that's saying something).

Bevagna is the most amazing town, full of culture and history with lovely friendly people. Another good point of Bevagna is that it is one of the few towns in Umbria which is flat, so very easy to stroll around at leisurely pace.

The whole experience was just like a dream, this beautiful medieval hotel, steeped in history is an experience of a lifetime. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a wedding venue to definitely have L'orto degli Angeli host your wedding. It is guaranteed to be a beautiful day to remember

“Amazing hotel in a charming village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 April 2010

This lovely property in Umbria was among the most charming I have ever stayed in. The hotel feels more like a home with lovely common spaces and gardens. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The restaurant is wonderful - architecturally as well as the food.

We stayed in the ARCANGELO RAFFAELE SUITE with our two children and it was the perfect arrangement for our family. We were not disturbed by any noise or bells at night.

Bevagna is a very small but sweet village - you can walk from one end to another in 15 minutes. We spent lots of time in the small squares, sitting outdoors and watching the locals go about their day. Very few tourists seem to have found Bevagna and so it was peaceful even during July, when we visited. Other lovely Umbrian towns are within driving distance.

I would recommend this property whole heartedly to anyone looking for a relaxing time in an undiscovered village of Italy.

“The Bells, The Bells!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2009

We stayed in Fortunata for 7 nights and were woken promptly at 6am by the bells from the nearby monastery which continued at very regular intervals thereafter rendering further sleep v difficult (they did not ring overnight though). The double glazing on the windows was inadequate even with internal shutters on the windows!
Our next door neighbours in the hotel reported similar experiences but I think if you stayed in the other part of the hotel you might not have been quite so disturbed by the noise. In addition to this the bed was very uncomfortable and creaky. All in all a great disappointment-not at all restfull

Dear Silverboots,
We are so sorry to write you after so long. We regret to have you caused so much trouble. As we are located in a Medieval historycal centre, it is natural to feel the sound of bells, used to mark time and as recall during particular events. certain traditions have been preserved as they were in the past and can sometimes be unpleasant, but sometimes they make you think back to the sense of history. We would be happy to welcome you again in our hotel, again making you enjoy the "authentic taste of Umbria" in one of our suites of Palazzo Alberti.

“Elegant and charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2009

This hotel was recommended to me by annesitaly.com. She is an American who is a guide and lives near Assisi. All of her suggestions were right on, especially this hotel. All of the previous reviews are very accurate. The garden is beautiful. After meeting Francesco, the owner, he took us on a tour of some of the rooms of the hotel. The rooms range from large and elegant to small and charming. They are not plush, but all have very nice bathrooms. Their website is accurate. It really is a romantic, peaceful place. There is a two week medieval festival that takes place every June or July. And I imagine things are bustling then.

But the biggest surprise is the fabulous restaurant, Redibis. It is across the street from the hotel in part of an ancient Roman theatre. The entrance is so small and unassuming, you would never guess what it leads to. It is a very sophisticated restaurant for such a small town. The food and service are excellent. From the main dining room, you can watch the uniformed kitchen staff at work in a beautiful shiny stainless steel kitchen through a large plate glass window. The contrast to the ancient surroundings is unique. The hotel has also published a beautiful cookbook that not only has recipes, but photos that illustrate Francesco's family history with old photos of the hotel. It's in Italian. We found that after driving to other towns during the day, it was nice to be able to walk to dinner at night. Bevagna had several other options for good restaurants.

Bevagna is quaint. There are some interesting sites to see. It still retains the charm of a traditional Umbrian city. It was not overrun with tourists when we were there.
