“Holidays in Evia”

We went many years ago to this hotel and apparently in Greece the hotels open up to school children whom unfortunately our children at the time were only 5, 6 and 7 at the time and the greek children overtook the whole of the swimming pool. Just wanted this to be a warning to families that we maybe wishing to book this to be aware of. Otherwise we had a lovely holiday the room and everything else we could not fault at all.

“Far from idyllic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2011

Travelled to this hotel with a small group of single Brits. What we had not been told is that this hotel is used by families escaping from Athens at the weekends. When we arrived, just in time to get a late dinner on the Saturday evening, we were greeted in the restaurant by the noise of families and their children. The 'restaurant' was souless - high ceilings, bright electric lights and felt more like a canteen. Not the best start. Thereafter, meals were taken on the terrace outside, overlooking the main swimming pool.

It was almost impossible the following day to find any sunbeds away from the children who were running around, shouting, dive bombing in the pool.

We found that the hotel was playing host to some 200 Russian children. Although not housed in the main building, they did take meals there, as well as use the gaming machines in the lobby and were unruly.

Warning - if you are looking for a peaceful holiday, go somewhere else!

This was booked as an all inclusive holiday. All inclusive does not include all beverages and soft drinks at this hotel. Bottle of water? Pay for it. Capuccino? Pay for it. Snack lunch at the sea water pool bar? Have an already made up processed cheese & spam sandwich. There was no choice. Whilst a buffet lunch is available in the main restaurant, it's a hike through the gardens, the main building and up the car park.

Staff were unfriendly except for one or two. The lady at reception was helpful, however.

The only bar open was the one at the main swimming pool. It had no atmosphere and it was impossible to avoid the 'entertainment' team. There is a taverna on the beach and it might have been nice to spend an evening there, overlooking the sea, but it wasn't open.

The rooms are ok (very hard beds though), but some overlook the carpark and when the Russian children go on day trips starting at 5.30am it is noisy.

On the plus side, the weather was lovely

All in all, this was a very uncomfortable holiday; I feel as though I didn't relax and need another.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

“new year cheer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2011

We spent three days here over New Year, It is a big hotel connected to another similar called Eretria Village. It looks quite old but really, really clean. The usual tourist beds, tv, balcony with chairs and table and a small fridge. Essential for your drinks in a greek summer. It was a freezing January but the heating was fantastic. Nice and warm all day and night long and plenty of hot water. I imagine the air conditon works the same way in the summer.

The xmas-New Year package was exremely good value. All food and drinks included plus a good noisy greek party in the evenings.

It is a large complex with tavernas, access to the sea, swimming pool, games roon and they do a lot for the children.

The hotel was full over this period and dozens of small children who were entertained day and night. They did an excellent job.

“waste of money”

An old time famous hotel of Eretria belonging to the same complex with eretria village. Sells only all inclusive accomodation while food at the hotel is unacceptable. Don't bother to look for a waiter or anybody to serve as everyone is unhappy and they know how to avoid guests wishes. Fine location but old time and faded beach equipment, At the same charge with Holidays in evia or Eretria village someone can get much more and of higher quality elsewhere. A big Bravo to the animation team. Real professionals who made us forget about our empty stomachs.

“Certainly not a 3* Hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010
1

The trick here is that this place belongs to 2 hotels, "Holidays In Evia" which is a 3* hotel & the 4* hotel "Eretria Village". The 4* one is a new beautiful building with a great pool. The 3* in which I stayed is an old building which is closer to the sea.

Pros:
- The stuff was very friendly.
- The place is about 1.5 hour away from Athens
- It had a large parking space.
- The room was spacious, with a big bathroom, a good closet, refrigerator, tv, radio, a boudoir, extra pilows, extra blankets and 2 places to leave ur luggage.
- Clean as if u were @ home! Fresh towels, many toilet papers, very clean bathroom, fresh seats, clean floor, all set by a extremely kind cleaning lady.
- There was a groom expecting us when we arrived to drive us and our stuff to our room
- 2 very large pools. The one had sweet water, with a big swallow part for kids or people who just want to sit inside the cool water and a deeper part to exercise and have fun. The other one was big, near the bar and the sea which is deep and has salty water.
- The place was huge filled with flowers and trees, you could walk around or go jogging, it had a very cute and clean private beach [it has a Blue Flag= it's very clean]
- they had a group of animateurs to entertain the people with special features all day long such as gym, dance, theater, theme nights, disco, yoga etc, who would keep u informed all the time about their schedule.
- The food was Excellent! Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, as well as free drinks and snacks, everything included in the price! The restaurant was placed in the 4* hotel and there was also a cute tavern by the sea where u could also enjoy ur meal.

Cons:
- The room's furniture. There were very old [70s style], with 2 single beds instead of a double one [it's the same in every room & it's very unconfortable if u are a couple].
- the tv was smaller than a laptop and was placed on top the refrigerator.
- The radio and the phone were like 20 years old!! They hardly work!
- The balcony didn't feel quite safe. As I said this hotel is very old ~ The should definitely do a makeover, call an engineer and perhaps a.. decorator?
- Thin walls.
- The air condition was a disaster! It was a very old system, it was open 16 hours a day [whenever breakfast, lunch or dinner were served it would be turned off and there was nothing you could do about it :S] I've never heard that before!
- It was too expensive! We paid 62 Euro/ person. Everything was included in that price [food, using the pools, terrains, sea, gym etc] but the room didn't deserve that much money. And you could definitely not use everything provided because when u eat 3 times in 12 hours you can neither swim or do anything like gym or watersports!

~
It was beautiful with huge amenities and plenty of stuff to do but if I decided to visit it again I would book a room @ the "Eretria Village" hotel which would certainly have better rooms!
