We have been lucky enough to travel extensively around the world, and stayed in some fantastic hotels on the way. We simply couldn't fault anything at the Kristiania. The friendly and welcoming family who own/run it. The polite, friendly and professional staff, the decor, the rooms, the cleanliness and, oh my goodness, the food! Absolutely everything about it is perfect. The fact that the location is not in the centre of Lech does it no harm at all, as it means you're away from the noise and traffic of the main road of Lech. Besides, the little bus which stops outside the hotel is frequent enough. If you do miss it, it really isn't a strenuous walk to reach the chairlifts, cable car and shops. Yes, they do charge for a carafe/glass of water at breakfast, if you don't happen to notice that it's listed amongst the selection of fresh juices for which you pay extra, and I do think it should provided for free. However, if that is the only observation that I can come up with as a criticism about the hotel, I think it says it all. We shall definitely be going back and can't wait!

If you are spending an extended weekend at the Kristiania and you travel on your own (more time to think, observe, etc.) you experience how much you are taken care of. The warmth of the host, Ms. Schneider ist outstanding and the team helps you with all your wishes you might have related to your ski-holiday. I had a great time, skiing (ski butler), with wonderful food and visits to the SPA (a should see). A very posh place that smiles and conveys understatement. Many international guests with substantail backgrounds.

This is our 3rd trip together to Lech and we booked a deal at this hotel via www.luxurylink.com. The hotel's initial impression is one of the charming Austrian kitsch often experienced in ski resorts, but actually, is beautifully interior designed and full of strange and wonderful pieces of art. The room we had wasn't massive, but had enough space for our ski clothes and normal clothes. Austrian beds and pillows are an acquired taste, but ours was roomy and comfortable.
Where the hotel really stands out is service. The waiting staff struck the delicate balance between friendliness and reservation. Their english was flawless too. We were half board and the 7 course dinners sound too much, but each course was delicately proportioned and we rarely left the table feeling gluttonous! Many of the courses were as good as any Michelin starred restaurant. The only complaint is the prices of the wines, bottles start at around E50. The staff were very accommodating over changes to courses for allergies, differing tastes etc.

The other staff around the hotel also deserve a mention; what the hotel lacks in extended facilities, it really makes up for in how you are treated. The spa is small, self-styled as a 70's experience and should not be your main reason for choosing the hotel. However, they do offer massages etc which were great.

The hotel has an arrangement with a key ski rental shop in the village where you can leave your skis and boots, meaning they are heated in the morning and you don't have to make the 10 min walk from the hotel to the central village in ski boots.

Highly recommended for couples/friends who want to combine a ski holiday with amazing food. Probably not so good for families with young children.

Half board is great value and the breakfasts are as good as the evening meals.

3rd year in a row I spent an extended weekend in Lech. We know many hotels in the area for the last 25 years, one will not find a place that’s cosy, personal in service and has such an excellent food proposition. This time we wanted to celebrate special moments and decided to go for the pent house suite # 42/43! Our friends stayed in rooms 32 and 33, the Turkish suite :) marvellous attention to detail and cool interior. That seems to be the key to success of this hotel. Will be back before the end of the season.
